Yachtmaster on Ebay...curious

Yachtmaster that the guy claims has a 3035 movement in it...

I would normally call shenanigans but seeing the open 9 is giving me second thoughts...

I wouldn't buy it unless it was a) gen, really had a 3035 movement in it, and c) was like $2k

different hands colora, bad sel fit, yatch master red lettering should be bolder, and it looks just a littl woky to me

3035 through late 1988, not 1999. I have several dwo with open 6 and 9, so that does not confirm anything.

So I asked the seller for shots of the movement and he got back to me that the watch is out getting polished and he would get me pictures when he gets it back...hmmmmm.

 

Also suspicious that he has so much feedback on ebay and all positive.

 

Also, looking at pics of Gen Yachtmasters on rolexforums has me thinking it might be gen like the seller states.  1) I was curious about the "Swiss made" taking up 5 minute ticks.

 

I found this picture which has a bezel insert that seems to be textured the same

3 ticks and 5 ticks are a standard Rolex variation- we've seen it on the 16610LV also. Fading Red Yachtmaster print wouldn't surprise me either. I believe the YM debuted in 1992, so that would go back to the Swiss- T<25 dials and maybe even a bracelet w/o SELs, but I really am not a student of the YM. Since this is a Z serial though, fading shouldn't be as much of an issue since the dial's only 6-7 years old.

 

But what if it was a WM9 case and someone put a 3035 in it? And the Rolex story is made up or the case really fooled an unsuspecting Rolex employee. It may have even fooled the seller.Then it would be a $1500-$2000 watch at best.
