candide2424 Posted April 7, 2013 Report Posted April 7, 2013 Hello folks, I have searched extensively but no clear answer popped out. I was wondering how is engraving make on case. Is it manually made or a specific tool is required such as a Dremel. Thanks for your insights
SSTEEL Posted April 7, 2013 Report Posted April 7, 2013 (edited) Mass produced engraving can be either laser etched/printed, or machined I would of thought. Edited April 7, 2013 by SSTEEL
candide2424 Posted April 7, 2013 Author Report Posted April 7, 2013 I meant for vintage watches. Some seem to have been made manually.
bones Posted April 7, 2013 Report Posted April 7, 2013 Pantograph, laser etching, hand engraving, lots of methods.
lloyd Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 The old watches used a pantograph. You can get used ones on ebay. Get a picture of any engraving, photoetch a brass plate, then make an exact copy.
