Nanuq
Now that the Big Crown frenzy has plateaued, and our crown o-rings have had a chance to take some abuse, has anyone found a source for the correct flat gaskets that should be inside these crowns, rather than the supplied o-rings? I'm thinking of a thin flat bicycle inner tube and two leather punches to make donut shaped cutouts. Any other ideas?
denimhead
How about these Big B? http://www.esslinger.com/generic-rolex-watch-crown-gaskets.aspx
cc33
I don't know why but the replica 8mm crowns all have a gasket that is too thin. Upper is phong's and lower one is gen, as you can see the gasket sucks compared to gen. I used phong's as an example but all the rep 8mm crowns have this flaw
denimhead
www.startime.com also have some 'B' not sure if they'd fit?
Nanuq
That's a great photo cc33. Thanks! I'll aim for that. The crown I got has what looks like a typical Triplock crown o-ring inside, tight around the center column.
Nanuq
Thanks for the links Denim, I don't think the ones from Esslinger are better than what I've got. Hey cc33 just send me that crown for *cough* evaluation purposes.
cc33
I would but I sent my gen's to phong to install for me on his cases. Here what it looks like outside of the crown. It's an integral part of the crown because it is the only thing stopping water from entering. The 'donut' doesn't cut it
Nanuq
Nice photo! That's my target.
Ephry73
I believe Gary Clark sells this gasket as well. Just let him know what crown and tube you have.
