fitmic
This happened to me twice with this movement and got it serviced and it ran for like two years. It's fully wound but the spring wheel (don't know the name) close to the swan head doesn't oscilate (correct term?). What to do? I just ordered a tool kit coming from Offshore, so any tips on what to do? I WON'T service it again for close to $200, since it way cheaper to buy a new one. Thanks for taking time answering me. Rolexman
Look for a loose screw blocking the gear train. Look near the escape wheel.... 9 out of 10 that is the problem when the balance suddenly stops swinging.
Jkay
WHO THE HELL charged you 200 dollars for servicing a movement upon which a child learns watchmaking?? I would burn his damn shop to the ground.

The thing is that the watch didn't die in an instant, but lost time over two days and then suddenly stopped working. I won't use him again since he screwed up the last dial.

elconquistador
Are you in the Us?. I am pretty sure I have at least one properly working A6497. Pay shipping and you can have it.

Thanks for your very nice gesture, but I am not located in the US.
Rolexman
If it stopped gradually there is a big chance it is dirty or dry as the amplitude decrease to such an low amount the movement stopped. Or a long shot... Magnetised?
Jkay
Since this serviced movement stopped working, I doubt it will need another service .. just a repair, and that is not going to be anywhere near 200 dollars. Why not send it to a trusted repair dude in the euro zone like Rolexman ..
fitmic
Thanks for the input guys. I was hoping that it was something I could do while learning dissembling and assembling. A new service/repair is out of the question since the watch maker screwed up the dial. I will try learning dissembling the watch and use it for that purpose. If it starts working it's only a bonus.
