The engraving inside looks sloppy but maybe that is how they were made in the 1960s? I have seen some very crisp engravings on some gen casebacks as well as soon not so crisp. cougar1 Posted September 18, 2013 Report Share Posted September 18, 2013 Same here, some of the fonts especially on the seamaster look different than most gens I've seen, although this caseback is very similar to one that was being sold as gen by watchco up to recently so as you say some gens may not be so crisp if there were variations at the time. woof* Posted September 18, 2013 Report Share Posted September 18, 2013 Yes gen There are no rep sm300 case backs with the pearling/machining or whatever it's called on the inside that I have ever seen. I bought a gen caseback from a guy in Argentina and it was nos and fit my VN case perfect. There are probably differences from year to year on the outer side.
