building a 5500 with a gen 1500 case...anyone know what size plexi?

Well, the Tropic 117 is the proper crystal for a 1500, but it has a cyclops. Tropic 12 was the proper crystal for a 5500 Air King, but I'm not sure if it would fit the 1500 case.

either way, I don't think the Tropic 12 will fit. You could always remove the cyclops from a 117 and polish, but hopefully there is a direct swap.

Have you seen that there's a 5500 "franken kit" (watch stripped of movement) in the FS section right now? Just in case you'd want to do something else with your 1500 case...

I had to remove the cyclops to make my 1500 Explorer.

Yes i saw the sale post but i have my heart set on another explorer build.. nice 5500 herr monkeypunch...Ummm....how exactly did you remove the cyclops?...seeing that you have built one of these beasts, any tips that would make my endeavor a rather simple one?....a best recipe perhaps? things to avoid and such....your humble servant,

Is the plexi 29.50?

I used a dremel to grind the cyclops down. You have to be careful not to take too much off, then I polished with silvo and a rag. This was prior to me acquiring green jewelers rouge, which is how I would recommend to it.
