ogladio Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 Hi guys, Have such hard time deciding... Should I have this relumed or not? What do you think?
dbane883 Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 Case looks familiar =). I would definitely NOT relume.
Nightwatch Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 Going by the second picture it looks too well-aged vintage to risk damaging it, would not re-lume. Looks good.
lionsandtigers Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 Are you high? Don't do a damn thing. It's perfect Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ogladio Posted February 4, 2014 Author Report Posted February 4, 2014 Thanks guys for the feedback! No, can't blame the question on narcotics or other substances Know it's one of the golden rule of gen dials to always avoid refinishing if not totally beaten up (another gold rule being not to snip off dial feet). To the story however goes that the dial at the same price as say an NDT. The seller insisted on having it sent over to Michael Young. which I kindly turned down - to get some time to gather thoughts and review options. When I got the dial I was however surprised how much I liked it as-is. Although this, I just don't know if that missing marker at 4 will be irritating and taking focus from the rest of the watch. On the other hand, if relumed - will I spend most of my days regretting that the original lume is gone forever..? And yes dbane - case should look familiar to you and a crew of other guys here
lionsandtigers Posted February 4, 2014 Report Posted February 4, 2014 it adds character that makes a dial like that so special. my gen pre comex dial has flaking on the lume and spots on the dial and I wouldnt touch it with a ten foot pole. just as dbane

It's ok.. If you like that sort of thing (uber rare gen dials that ooze timeless style)
ogladio Posted February 5, 2014 Author Report Posted February 5, 2014 Ok, decision made. I'll keep the dial as-is. Thanks guys for the moral support
sishac Posted February 6, 2014 Report Posted February 6, 2014 Don't relumed it!! If you want lune either buy a 2nd dial or find a service dial!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Cats Posted February 8, 2014 Report Posted February 8, 2014 Getting a service dial sounds like a good option. I personaly would get crazy with the issue of the 4 o'clock marker. Btw looking at your realizes me how close the mystery modders was with his grainly tritium likr lume. Wear it in good heath. Cats Verzonden vanaf mijn iPad met behulp van Tapatalk Pro
