dominick22
Gents, I am seriously looking for a good Panerai Rep to wear as a daily watch that will see some time in the pool/ocean. I'd like a quality timepiece even though it is a replica. I wont say that I am looking for the most exact copy, etc....but rather, I am truly looking for a quality built watch that on its own is of good quality. IE: Valjoux Movement, Reliably Water Resistant, etc. This is the watch that I am about to purchase: http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=90 Any thoughts? I would like to get a Panerai like this or similar to it. If you have any other recommendations, please share them with me as I will be purchasing very soon. Thanks so much, Dominick
Drummania
I think the Noob O series is the best. You can find it in a lot of dealers (not ttt888 though).

Thank you for your reply. I noticed that Puretime has many "Noob" models. Would you be kind enough to post a link to the specific watch you are referring to? seafoam
Thank you Dominick Only issue that was a deal-breaker for me with this one is the Hulk green lume was obnoxious and stayed green even when in light. Looked terrible. At least mine was this way.
martijnp
I've got the 104 Noob and it's a fantastic watch, it was my first Panerai! Wearing it as we speak. See my signature for my PAM104
The Dude
Toro has the Noob PAM299 on sale for $258, or Sead (Super Mirrors) has the H-Factory 390 for $179. Both great watches.

See my signature for my PAM104 Thanks for the reply. I just noticed that the 104 is not the sandwich dial and the 111 is. I was under the impression that all the Luminors were a sandwich dial. This helps alot because I would like to go with a sanwich dial. Thanks so much! Dominick

dominick22
Thanks again martijnp... Well, I am back to the 104. I am not satisfied with the replica open case backs so I decided to go closed. This also means that with the options I want, the 104 is the best comprimise, so no sandwich dial either. I can still be very happy with a 104. So, I found 2 watches I am considering. I will post the links, but I am questioning the accuracy of the strap attatchments. On the one from trustytime, the strap release is simply a long screw. On the one from Puretime, it has the signature quick strap release push pin built into the back side of the case. Also, one is 316F steel and the other is 316L. Do I need to care about this? Is one Lume better than the other. So difficult to understand! Has Panerai made this watch both ways and slightly changed the design over time or is one replica more accurate than the other. They are close enough in price that I am more concerned with buying the better overall watch. I know it will take time and effort, but some guidance would be appreciated. http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=37_58&products_id=8227 http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=37_58&products_id=8227 Thank you, Dominick

I only can tell you that the quick strap release push pin is a great thing, it's very easy to change straps on my 104 that way! But to be honest, I don't switch straps that much. About the lume, there is definitly a different between lume but on most PAMS you'll find great lume. Did you already check the PAM Guide? dominick22
Yes and thanks again. I have been using the Pam guide intimatly! It has been an open window on my computer for about 2 weeks now! LOL I am ready to buy but it is so difficult. I am literally willing to pay for the best quality, but based on descriptions, I cant really tell which one is best. I dont want to spend the most money just assuming that it will be better. I would like to at least slightly understand what the additional cost is for. I wrote Andrew at Trusty and he said that the real croc band was the only difference and cause for the difference in price, but I notice other differences like the quick strap release. Anyway--if you get a chance to check out the website links at home and offer guidance, it would greatly help me. Best wishes, Dominick
StormTooper4
Panerai watches are dated by a letter that appears before the production number. The watch shown in the example above is an 'I' production year, which is approximately 2006. The following are the approximate years of production that the letter indicates: No Letter - 1997 A - 1998 B - 1999 C - 2000 D - 2001 E - 2002 F - 2003 G - 2004 H - 2005 I - 2006 J - 2007 K - 2008 L - 2009 M - 2010 N - 2011 O - 2012 P - 2013 Can't remember what year the quick realise came in. Let's say K series onwards. Personally I prefer the older screw style and use spring bars. But it really it's an insignificant aspect of the watch to me. Panerai rep croc straps are generally poor so a gen gator would be a nice option IMHO. Dom your indecisiveness reminds me of my wife, though my opinion is often asked after it is rarely taken on board. Your buying a rep the versions you're looking at have very slight differences like my wife's shoes. Just pull the trigger and let's move on and post us some pictures of your purchase
