1665 or 16610 - All modded - Vintage or Classic - What shall I do?

I think the 16610 is way more accurate than your 1665.

If you plan to keep it - I'd suggest to get a genuine insert with a pearl that was actually made for the 1665. Also the lugs are way too thick and the crown doesn't look like a period correct 702 from that picture.

One question though - why do you use the term gen to describe genuine Rolex parts and why do you also use it to describe ETA parts? Isn't that confusing? Aren't TC's parts also gen TC parts?

Thanks for your feedback. I have a gen insert + period correct pearl. But is more grey. I wrote under the picture that the black insert is just used for better comparison.

Where do I write GEN to describe ETA parts. I only wrote gen crown for example if it is a genuine Rolex crown.

Ok, I'm brand new to the rep world and love the pics. I'm struggling to follow the lingo and people (eg, Angus, BK, TC, noob vs. newb like me). I'm getting there. I'm losing too much time scouring the trusted dealers, figuring out what they have in stock, and their locations.

Can someone please put me out of my misery and tell me where I can buy a high quality 1665, sub, and Tudor BB with fast CONUS/California turnaround? Ok, I'm actually not miserable--I enjoy the forums but finding the great models is tough.

There are no high-end dealers in North America. The fastest delivery to you from China is five working days via EMS international courier post.

There is a lower-end dealer in New Jersey but all he carries is Asia 21j pieces and battery powered pieces. His name is WBK (Wacko Bird Keeper) .. he can get you a watch (in stock) within 3 days in the USA.

BK and TC are both men working out of the USA but they are not large dealers. They are specialists who only sell a very small range of watches but guarantee their above-average quality. Since they hand-build their watches, you are looking at weeks or months of lead-time and higher pricing due to their handwork.

I still remember the dark day you put that watch up for sale. It was a Thursday and it was raining. I felt the earth move.

Another vote for the 1665!

I literally laughed out loud when I read this. "I felt the earth move"… Haha

To OP: 1665 hands down!  This isn't even a close comparison IMO. "Nice" 16610 are a dime a dozen and can be had at a moments notice, theres always some for sale on the boards.  Your 1665 on the other hand cannot be had which ease if you later change your mind. Its a great piece and as many have already said finding parts for these vintage builds are only getting harder to find and more expensive to buy.  I also think the 1665 has much better wrist presence while still maintaining that classic Rolex look.  Oh and don't forget about that plexi!

EDIT: and... I just realized this is an older thread… Ha.  Well that was my .02 cents anyways!
