Noob GMT IIc V2 VS Gen

So I did a fast review with rep VS gen.

Pics are by far not perfect and could not highlight the differences as much as I liked.

So far the flaws

- 12, 6 and 9 markers are way of.. They are too thick and this is next to each other very noticable.

- hourmarkers are off, the rep ones are to big not being anal

- the printing is off, too flat and spacing is not correct.

- bracelet feels very cheap compared to gen, even after oiling treatment. Gen was two years old. But still felt way tighter then the rep of 1 day old. The clasp closes smoother on the gen and feels more quality.

- the lugs on the rep are thinner then on the gen, not very noticable but next to gen definitely something you can spot easily

- the teeth are not correct. Though still good on the rep.

- the crown guards are a bit thinner on the gen.

- lume is ok but not as strong

- as on all reps the paint on the insert numbers is terrible but a very easy thing to fix

- the numbers are quite good. An ienimini pitsie thinner. But then you are really looking at the smallest differences

- AR is ok but by far not as good as the gen, but fixable with gen crystal

- Lume application is good around the edges but it has little dimples in the middle of each hour marker, maybe they can fix this in a second batch

Goods

- on the wrist it looks good, my friend who owns a gen iwc portoguese and gen GMT IIc could not spot any flaws without his own watch next to it. And then still not as many as I mentioned here.

So who will notice the difference? Us the anal rep collectors

It will be interesting to see this.

I owned my Noob GMTIIc back in 2008. Dunno if it was the same as "v2" but oiling changed the bracelet and it became quite decent. Of course rep bracelet will never feel exactly like the gen Rolex but it was good enough.

When I have seen the gen countless times (my friend owned one but switched to 16710 just recently) the biggest difference to me was the gen bezel, which was "brownish" in color and had different shine.

Here's my old review of this rep:

Sorry for the quality, taken by iphone 5s with little time and bad light and no preparation

Gen left date 26, rep right date 29, Look at the hour markers at 6,9 and 12 the reps are way bigger, the round hour markers are also to big

Black hole effect is good on the rep from some angles but not all

Lugs are thinner on rep and crown guards also have a different shape, again hour markers are off on the rep

rep top, gen bottom rolex logo is thicker on gen and darker, maybe fixable with paint mod? Seen some rwi with success.

Here I tried to capture the closing mechanism, Rep in front, the angle of the "hook" that closes the clasp is little bit different but it does work well on the rep

Endlinks are a little bit recessed on the gen (in the back of pic), not on the rep

Crown guards are thinner on the rep, but was hard to make a good picture of it.

Lugs are thinner on rep and dial printing is more raised on the gen ( gen top, rep bottom)

Right!  I think I am going to buy the Noob v5 now.  I haven't owned a GMT II since high school when I bought one from a dealer and returned it 2 days later.  It was $1575 + tax back then and I knew I could not afford it.  I wore it to party, boxed it back up and returned it.  I don't think I could pull that off today.

Will you cover the  Noob v5 in this review?  Happy to send you my piece when it arrives if you would like to use it for the analysis.  PM if you are interested.  Thx!
