Last watch I made a friend, who's also a watchsmith, to service (simply clean and lube) costed me around 95$ and it came to new life.

I'd give it a try :)

I don't know about rep friendly watchsmith in the south of France, but eventually here in Italy there is a good one, named Danilo. Here his references (I know for sure he's still in the business, but he has higher prices respect to my friend) -> http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/158902-domi/

Before you ask: no my friend works on my rep just because he's a friend and will not take from others :)

This one is a tough one to service. As a gen, it's a complication movement. The rep is an Asian rig that goes tango uniform if you look at it cross eyed. I gave my rep to a watchsmith and it came back a mess. It became a parts watch for me.

First thing to look at is why it stopped. Carefully remove the back (over a dark cloth in case any parts fall out) and ensure that the rotor is still attached. The number one reason these 7750s stop is that the rotor screw comes loose and the rotor wont spin. Another frequent problem is that the screws for on of the clamps that holds the mechanism in the case has come loose and is jamming up the movement.
