coffindodger Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 Hi lads, Just got a gen 16610 insert to install onto my TC V6 sub. I need help as I have never done anything but wear my watches. Can somebody run me throughout the procedure so a hopefully fit it without any tears. I know there is a video on Youtube but i don't think it can be that simple. Help please. CD
highoeyazmuhudee Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 you can usually push them in with your thumbs. start with one side and snap the other side in with your other thumb. i wouldnt worry about tearing, theyre pretty strong. worry more about bending.\ TC bezel rings are a bit tigther than gen last time i checked, you might have to sand the underside of the insert down for a proper fit or risk losing it during wear
mjmj Posted July 28, 2014 Report Posted July 28, 2014 It is that simple.I pushed mine in with thumbs until the last bit, then put a cloth over the corner of a table and pressed that last bit against that corner and wah lah it snapped in.perfect
coffindodger Posted July 29, 2014 Author Report Posted July 29, 2014 so you take the bezel off with a knife at 7. then push out the tc insert from inside ,then put the bezel on 1st before adding the insert??
dbane883 Posted July 29, 2014 Report Posted July 29, 2014 so you take the bezel off with a knife at 7. then push out the tc insert from inside ,then put the bezel on 1st before adding the insert?? You could do that... might be safer. Plus you can align the triangle perfectly at 12. If you put the insert on the bezel first, its very easy to push too hard on the middle of the insert. It's very easy to press too hard and basically bend the insert (usually at the triangle) and this will result in a flattened insert where the outer diameter is now too large.. this is not a good situation. So make sure you are applying pressure only on the outer portion of the insert. After I work around the perimeter, you can just snap the remaining part in by pressing the outer edge on a wooden table or something similar.
coffindodger Posted July 29, 2014 Author Report Posted July 29, 2014 o crap i,m going to break it i can se it now. think i should buy a cheep 1 of the bay and try that 1st
spooky driver Posted July 29, 2014 Report Posted July 29, 2014 yeah but a cheep one probably wouldn't fit....i had fun getting mine on as well
coffindodger Posted July 29, 2014 Author Report Posted July 29, 2014 well! if everybody else has a go so am I . Will check in later here go's
davidmac Posted July 30, 2014 Report Posted July 30, 2014 How did you get on? Sent from my iPhone using TapatalksSic
markiemark Posted July 30, 2014 Report Posted July 30, 2014 This helped me do it the first time Don't put your knife all the way under your bezel, then you will take off the entire bezel assemble. You need to put it under for like 2mm... Look underneath the bezel first to see what I'm talking about. Be careful! I lost my click spring the first time and it's a pain in the *ss to find it back! Don't forget to cover the lug otherwise you will damage it.
coffindodger Posted July 30, 2014 Author Report Posted July 30, 2014 Still not worked up the courage yet lol Got a cheaper 1 off dave for my cheaper sea dweller going to have a go at that 1st Still not worked up the courage yet lol Got a cheaper 1 off davi for my cheaper sea dweller going to have a go at that 1st
cyberwarhol Posted July 30, 2014 Report Posted July 30, 2014 Don't forget when you push the insert in, place the pearl portion/triangle in first. It is the weakest part of the insert. Then you work your way around to snap the rest in place. If you leave the insert part to be last to snap, you could crack the pearl or bent the insert. I would install the bezel back in first before reinserting the insert. That way the triangle can easily line up to 12 o'clock. Sent from my
coffindodger Posted July 30, 2014 Author Report Posted July 30, 2014 cheers cyber thats what i am going to to
coffindodger Posted July 31, 2014 Author Report Posted July 31, 2014 right lads almost there. I have the insert changed but now when i put the bezel back on it won't click. I think i have the click spring wrong somehow . HELP QUICK PLEASE
dbane883 Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 You could always bend the spring if its not reaching the teeth. But are you sure you snapped the bezel on all the way? Also, when installing the bezel, put it on an angle starting at the click spring so it doesnt get "mashed".
coffindodger Posted July 31, 2014 Author Report Posted July 31, 2014 does the spring go over the thin ring or under?
dbane883 Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 Over. i.e. the washer is under the click spring
coffindodger Posted July 31, 2014 Author Report Posted July 31, 2014 TADA!! Thanks for the help people, But now i'm having trouble getting the insert into my bp sea dweller i think its a tiny bit too big. do i need to sand it some how??
dbane883 Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 You're trying to put a TC insert onto a BP SD? Or a gen 16600/16660 insert onto the BP bezel? Gen 16600 inserts should be 36.65mm OD.
coffindodger Posted July 31, 2014 Author Report Posted July 31, 2014 a gen 16600 insert sorry ,getting people confused
coffindodger Posted July 31, 2014 Author Report Posted July 31, 2014 do i just lightly rub the outside edge with sandpaper until it fits?
dbane883 Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 Is it not fitting because it's too wide or too thick? If the latter, then you lay the entire insert flat on top of the paper
coffindodger Posted July 31, 2014 Author Report Posted July 31, 2014 i think its too wide by just a tiny bit, I can get 2/3rds in
