Urgent Angelus Question

JBoy

Recommended Posts

It's a travel alarm clock - not a desk clock. Trying to find out the size of the casing (or the rear metal casing that holds the movement).

just wondering if anyone recognizes it right off as a viable clock to salvage the movement.

Tourb, if you've got so many why do you need more?! Sounds like you've got some interesting projects in the pipeline. JBoy, as the long green vegetable has already pointed out, there are tell tale signs on these clocks - be patient and do your research, without dimensions you can tell from the front or back what movement is inside!

Well - I've asked several people and read everything I could find on Angelus movements and clocks and such - and no one is talking. Everyone covering their own ass.

We've got guys here with 4 or more movements - and they still won't give clues to anyone on how to find the right one.

But I think I've found a movement now. From someone who actually knows what they are doing and is willing to help.

The reality is those of us who have an Angelus have had to buy an incorrect clock or two to learn what to look for. This is the price of entry into this market.

Also I am much more inclined to help someone I know and who has been here for a while when it comes to VERY hard to find items.

Sorry - but that's just ignorant and elitist.

I may not have been here long (as only stumbled across THIS website by mistake) but I can guarantee you I've been a part of the legitimate Panerai world for longer than most people on ANY board.

I'll probably never actually get to buy an Angelus movement - but I want to learn more about them.

Thank goodness there are people out there willing to help and who are not so selfish as some people I've come across here.

I don't think cucumber_jones represents the majority of this forum, and I think it is a bit harsh because there are people in this forum that they gave SO MUCH just because they care about RWG and our community.

Don't make general assumption because of the reply of a member.

@ tourbillon1801..Not ALL of them...some do slip through your radar.. :D

@jboy that clock is wrong..like CJ says...and we have to kiss lots of frogs to get these and lose some money.

Sometimes these are correct but don't work or missing stems etc..so its a toss up.

You need a few movements to make one rep to cover the mistakes/problems..there are no parts available for these anywhere.

As far as the Trade secret stuff..its nothing against you as you will figure it out anyway if you keep looking.

The issue is if every member of all 3 boards and the Paneristi "knew" what to look for..we would all bid against each other and the price would be astronomical..its getting that way now..

So we want to help you , but the public posting of info is not a great idea..

Good Luck

dear friend

great pics... CONGRATULATE

but why you have cleaned the movements so much? It looks like new?

i told my watchmaker, that he don´t do full revision. Only a simple cleaning... this movements are historic movements and it is better that they looks old???

Jboy give me a f*cking break. I am happy to help you find the best sub I am happy to answer 99% of all questions that I am asked all day long.

All I said is that there are many of us still looking for these movements and that is why I am not providing any hints. I noted that I dont even know you and that I would be a little more inclined to provide someone who I actualy know with some tips to find the most sought after movement out there.

There is nothing f*cking elitist about that at all. I dont know you that is all. If a member that I know PM'd me asking for hints I might be more inclined to give him a hand as I know him and I know what he has contributed here.

By the way - I did f*cking help you by telling you that the 1st movement you showed was no good and then I told you the clock that you showed was no good. So what the [censored]ing hell do you mean that I am elitist and ignorant. That will teach me for so promptly answering your questions on three replica boards.

Based on the fact that I told yo not to buy two bad clocks I think I saved you a bunch of money - you are welcome for that.

Yeah, guess why I called a certain someone a big arrogant [censored] via PM ;)

I do know a local watchmaker that can repair ANY damage on a watch, because he makes watches himself and has all the equipment. If you have a broken one, or one thats missing a stem, I'd buy it, as long as it has the correct size ;)

Slay dear friend

I did not say you were arrogant. I did not say you were santa clause. I did not say you HAD to sell the movements. I did not say you HAD to sell the movements for an unreasonable price. And I did also not call Cucumber an [censored]. You guys need to read what I write and not put words in my mouth that I never used!

Although, if I may add, I do not see why someone has 4 movements and wants even more. But fortunately, there are still members here who do not want to own the whole world and are very helpful, Marco for example. Thanks again Marco :)

If I may also add, I understand why Cucumber maybe does not tell someone who is new and whom he does not know _everything_. What I dislike is when people try to benefit as much as possible community but when they discover that they might not be able to own 27 angelus movements, they play the "everyone for himself" game.
