CptTripps
I'm hoping you guys can help me out on this. I was digging through all my watch bracelets/straps when I came across this. It's an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean bracelet. When I put it next to my Gen Seamaster bracelet, it appears identical. Markings are similar. Look/feel of the steel is identical. It fits perfectly on my Gen Seamaster...but I'm not sure if it's Gen or Rep? Can you guys help?
thesheriff
I think on the gens the links are more rounded at the ends / cross section. Cant really see it from your pictures but check against a gen image and you'll see the difference.
jackflash
With those markings on the links and endlinks, I would say they are at least gen. Here's a shot of my gen endlinks.
CptTripps
The more I look at it...the more I think it's Gen too. I did a search on eBay for a 1579/951 bracelet and the markings on it are identical to what I have. However....I can't ever know for sure. I don't want to put it on eBay for $500 and find that it's a Rep. I also don't want to sell it for $80 and find out it was Gen.
danza1812
I'm inclined to say gen. The omega writing on the clasp just looks more gen than my rep and the centre of the omega symbol is centred with the e of omega. My UPO bracelet is slightly off in that respect probably cos of the text size being slightly different. The endlinks look gen too. Resistor
The clasp engraving is high quality, suggesting that it's genuine. ...I mean...it's a poor replica. I'll give you $20 for it
Rolexman
It's a rep. Look at the finishing of the inside of the clasp. I've seen a lot of POs gen and rep. No genuine I handled ever had a clasp like this.
Rolexman
Why did you remove the picture of the inside of the clasp?
Tanto91
believe this is rep. look at the tabs on the back side of the end links - on the rep those little tabs are kind of trapezoid shaped while on the gen they are square. i will say though, the rep bracelet is *really* close to gen. personally i think the clasp engravings look a bit thinner than gen and the stamps/engravings on the back side of the links dont look sharp enough (on the gen i think they look more 'etched'), though i could be wrong - it really is hard to tell unless you have them side by side in hand. fraggle42
Looks a rep. I got a gen clasp and fitted it to my rep strap and had to mill out the links in the strap slightly as the gen clasp is slightly wider where it narrows a little.
