I have several nice watches including a Breitling Superocean and an Omega Seamaster Chrono. It is the Omega that I need help with. I actually purchased it approximately 6 years ago. I believe it has the Valjoux 7750 movement (at least that is how it was advertised). Almost immediately it stopped working. I sent it back to Andrew (trustytime) who said he repaired it. Almost immediately again it stopped working. At that time I gave up, but last week I happened to find it and tried to shake and wind it...it started working. I worked with it for 5 or 10 minutes (as it kept starting/stopping), but finally got it to run. It ran for 3 days non-stop. On Saturday morning I noticed it had stopped during the night, so I wound it and it ran again. Last night, before bed-time, I gave it some hand-winds to get it through the night. After a few minutes I noticed it had stopped again. This time, I was not able to get it to run. This morning I tried again, but no luck. The seconds hand (by 9:00) will not budge. I would certainly appreciate thoughts on what could be causing this problem. More importantly, what I would most appreciate is some recommendations on people associated with this forum who will work on replica watches (especially the 7750 movement in the Omega). The Seamaster Chrono is a lovely rep (I have a few!) and worth getting fixed. Post your location and you may get help from fellow members who can advise a local (to you) watchsmith. Resistor Posted October 13, 2014 Report Share Posted October 13, 2014 The movement that came with that watch was the Asian copy of the Valjoux 7750 and they are notorious for finicky operation due to the relatively high complexity of an automatic chronograph. Andrew probably just swapped the problematic movement for another one of the same type, which can lead to more of the same problems or maybe even worse problems. Like the previous responder said, you should send the watch to a competent watchmaker who can tear down and service the movement. It is possible that a service will fix the problems but it is not guaranteed. I've not had any troubles with my A7750 watches, but I could just be lucky. The other alternative is to find and buy an actual Swiss 7750 movement. Not sure about current pricing but I imagine you could find one in the $350-450 range + the cost of swapping dial and hands.
