Stuck balance wheel after replacing the stop lever

Hi Everyone,

I had to replace the stop lever on my 2824.

The fix was successfull but after one night the movement stopped running and now I can see the balance wheel is stuck and doesn't oscillate anymore. I can move it in one direction but it is completely blocked in the opposite way.

Keyless work is fine, I can set the time, wind the movement and change the date.

As said it doesn't oscillate anymore.

No idea what might be wrong. Any suggestion?

Thank you !

Did you try to removing the balance bridge and installing back?

The balance jewel may be out of palette fork

That's what I initially thought but if it ran then the impulse jewel must of been in the fork.

If you took it apart no further than the pictures above then I would go back and take out the hacking lever, check thoroughly for any tiny hairs or dirt in the movement and put it back together without the having lever, it's a pretty useless bit of metal anyway ;)

Difficult to say. My money is on the balance brake lever :p

Rolexman, do you mean the stop lever?

Nope, I didn't . I actually never touched the balance bridge, I read might be tricky to put it back in place. :(

Not that difficult.

Unscrew the balance [censored] screw, put a 0.8 or 1mm screwdriver between the balance co-ck (the - is not to get it "censored") and the main plate and rotate the screwdriver a bit to unlock the balance co-ck from the main plate.

Then with the tweezers grab delicately both the balance co-ck and the balance wheel (but STAY AWAY from the air spring) and remove it.

Like you see here (from minute 3 to minute 4)
