panerai153
Just read this article in the NY Times, which pretty much sums up what a daunting task the US Customs, ATF, DEA, etc. have in trying to stop contraband goods from getting into the country. What many of us don't realize is, the sheer volume is overwhelming. 60,000 Containers per day enter the USA, Guys that is box 20 feet long, 8 feet tall and about 8 feet wide. Just imagine how many Gucci bags, Nike shoes, T-shirts, etc. can fit in one container, then multiply that by 60K !! Most of these are coming into about 10 major ports. I'm sure the port of LA handles at least 20% of the containers coming from China, so the agents there and other POE's have to look at and awful lot of goods every day. Here is a link to the article, interesting read.http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/20/business/at-us-ports-even-santas-bag-might-be-peeked-into.html?emc=edit_th_20141220&nl=todaysheadlines&nlid=39881937

Mike on a bike
That's why they focus on ocean freight and our small EMS packages are mostly ignored..... Yes looking for bulk score hom many agents would it take to track down one package at a time w/ a watch, just a matter of resourse management.
