cortopar Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 The newest Navitimers look great, but I can't live with the bezel being off so... would it be possible to buy an older generation with correct slide rule, and a new generation with the better dial/movement and simply swap the guts? Are the case dimensions the same? Thanks in advance, Bob

Are the case dimensions the same? Thanks in advance, Bob I have owned both old and new Navi reps. I'm not 100% sure about this... but I believe the cases are the same. But I also suspect the bezels are the same... and the problem is with the dial markers (which should align with the bezel markers). I mean... they changed the dials for the new batch Navis and the problems arised. Sounds logical, eh? So changing the bezel wouldn't necessarily help. But this is all just speculation from my part...
cortopar Posted December 17, 2006 Author Report Posted December 17, 2006 Well... I'll know before too long and let you all know. Andrew's been able to get a previous gen case for me. I'm going to swap the new movement/dial into it and we'll see. Not sure if it would be possible, but perhaps The Zigmeister or another maestro could build a franken-dial that combined the best of both?
By-Tor Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Some old Navis had inferior dials... like my "Serie Speciale". The subdials looked like stickers. Some older Navis had perfectly good dials, too. Just make sure you won't get one with the "sticker" subdials. Those subdials didn't prevent me from loving the watch. I would probably still own it... and be happy with it... if it only fit on my wrist.
Pugwash Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 The problem is that the newer dials are pretty much universally better, apart from the slide-rule. Which problem is less annoying for you?
archibald Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 The problem is that the newer dials are pretty much universally better, apart from the slide-rule. Which problem is less annoying for you? Would gen dial fix the problem...did they line up the slide rule printin as per a gen? If so, it might be worth the long hours and high expense to look for a gen dial.
watchman12345 Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Just a quick question, Is the navitimer a screw in caseback? I cant for the life of me get it open!
