wadawalnut Posted January 25, 2015 Report Posted January 25, 2015 Hello, I have realized that most of the time the lume on my rep doesn't really work... Sometimes it glows slightly but not for very long, and sometimes it doesn't really glow at all. However, every once in a while, it glows like a torch, and it lasts for a long time, which is awesome. So what affects how bright the lume will glow?
Resistor Posted January 25, 2015 Report Posted January 25, 2015 The type and intensity of the charging light play a big part in how bright and how long the lume will glow. Charging lume in bright sunlight is going to make it glow much brighter than a lamp or flashlight. The type, amount and consistency of the lume applied to watch parts also impacts performance. If lume material is applied lightly or unevenly, the glow will be weak and splotchy. Generally, more luminescent material results in stronger, longer lasting glow. Many reps suffer from this but some gens do as well.
Nightwatch Posted January 26, 2015 Report Posted January 26, 2015 If You hit it with a 600 or more lumen led-flashight for a few seconds it will/should glow all night - at least enough to read the time. Best result is with an UV-light (emulates sun), there are some very cheap disposables from $3 on ebay. The type/quality and thickness of the lume applied pays a big role, some of the cheaper reps will last some 1-5 minutes only.
