Rudy4010 Posted March 21, 2015 Report Posted March 21, 2015 This is a long over due thread that was posted over at RWI first... But should have been posted here first given this is Misiekped home..lol..! About 5 months ago I sold my Franken 16613 project to switch up to something different... Everyone was already doing 16613 builds... And I wanted to do something a little more different a vintage! It kind of fell together pretty fast ... I originally was looking for a Sean case .. Because of the CGs was so much better ! But I got a call from ST about the same time I was thinking of this build . They said they had a new holes case back in stock So I went for it! And the rest is history! I PM my buddy Misiekped and ask if he take on the project! He supplied some of the parts already I sourced for this build! And I got to say he done awesome work on the project! And was very pleased with the results! Misiekped the man! Need less to say Misiekped work is flawless bringing my old gen gold bezel assembly back to life! His work is clean and some of the best work I seen! Enjoy the pics! Another update is coming after this post! Sent from my Rolex thinking brain! 1
Rudy4010 Posted March 21, 2015 Author Report Posted March 21, 2015 Some time has past since this project was built by Misiekped And I was no where near done with the build... But as you can see I had a good base !...lol Specs as you see them! Gen Rolex 16803 dial in it's original form .. Not refinished! Gen Rolex 16803 tritium hands Gen Rolex 703 gold crown Gen Rolex bezel assembly complete! Gen Rolex 16803 insert St case ST tube Serviced Yuki 3135 by Misiekped St sapphire crystal Cape and Co DW Gen Rolex main midlinks WSO real gold End links! And 16613 blades installed in TC clasp to make a modded clasp! Sent from my Rolex thinking brain!
Rudy4010 Posted March 22, 2015 Author Report Posted March 22, 2015 Now the watch is back out to a good friend of mine Tagfan1 for case work! As you can see the watch doesn't look it's age ... So now we are taking the sharp edges off! And having the crappy ST CGs reworked! And doing some bottom chamfer in on the CGs! And least but not last! Putting in a newly serviced Genuine Rolex 3135 This will be the last faze of the build! And can't wait to get my baby back! I will update the final results after Tagfan1 gets done! Sent from my Rolex thinking brain!
Rudy4010 Posted March 22, 2015 Author Report Posted March 22, 2015 still may change the case in the future after sourcing the gen end links and clasp to make the bracelet completely gen.....I'm going to see how the molded ST case suits me....But I say the CGs will never make me happy! .....then I may contact Phong for case engraving
Rudy4010 Posted March 23, 2015 Author Report Posted March 23, 2015 (edited) Reflection back as I sourced parts! And Tagfan1 modded end links to fit the case! It's been a long road but we are getting closer! Sent from my Rolex thinking brain! Edited March 23, 2015 by Rudy4010 1
Skywatch Posted March 23, 2015 Report Posted March 23, 2015 Very nice build, great photos cannot wait to see the completed work.
Rudy4010 Posted March 25, 2015 Author Report Posted March 25, 2015 Starting to get there! Sent from my Rolex thinking brain!
phwtan Posted March 25, 2015 Report Posted March 25, 2015 (edited) Where are ST midcase from? I'm looking for a midcase that will precisely accomodate a gen 93250 bracelet. Ie gen SEL alignment. Edited March 25, 2015 by phwtan
Rudy4010 Posted March 26, 2015 Author Report Posted March 26, 2015 ST cases are sold by ST and you have to have a store front or biz account to order from them... But the case will take all gen spec parts including bracelets Sent from my Rolex thinking brain!
phwtan Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 Thanks for the info ST case will only accommodate a 3135 or yuki 3135 movement, is that correct? Or can a TC movement be shoehorned in?
phwtan Posted March 26, 2015 Report Posted March 26, 2015 Your 16803 is insanely good, by the way. I'm trying to get to something of a similar standard with a 16610
Robert Thompson Posted March 27, 2015 Report Posted March 27, 2015 Very nice build? It's un freakin believable! That's almost perfect. God knows what that cost. $4,000????
Rudy4010 Posted March 27, 2015 Author Report Posted March 27, 2015 Very nice build? It's un freakin believable! That's almost perfect. God knows what that cost. $4,000???? More like over 5k after said and done! This is just for the love of the hobby! It really don't pay to build your own 16803 or 16613 unless your not that anal about parts etc..? Sent from my Rolex thinking brain!
Rudy4010 Posted March 27, 2015 Author Report Posted March 27, 2015 ST = star time? Yes ! And yes the ST can house either the 3035-or-3135... And with a movement ring ETA movements... What ever your liking? Sent from my Rolex thinking brain!

It really don't pay to build your own 16803 or 16613 unless your not that anal about parts etc..? Over $5,000, that's a lot of wonga. I envy you though, I would love to do something like that but I have zero knowledge of how to. I can take a link out of a bracelet (just), that's about it. I always wondered with these kind of builds: do you have an estimate of what you want to spend before you start, keep track as you go or just do it on the fly and add it up when you are finished and have a heart attack when you realize how much you spent? Elchino Posted March 28, 2015 Report Posted March 28, 2015 Awsome! Beautiful build buddy! I'm waiting for my gen 16803 after years of dream it.
Rudy4010 Posted March 28, 2015 Author Report Posted March 28, 2015 Tagfan1 sent some up date pics last night! So end results will be here soon! Should get it back next week! Can't wait to get this back on my wrist again! Sent from my Rolex thinking brain!
Rudy4010 Posted April 6, 2015 Author Report Posted April 6, 2015 I'm going to start another thread because this build has been totally rebuilt ! But here is a few pics! Sent from my Rolex thinking brain! 2
droptopman Posted April 6, 2015 Report Posted April 6, 2015 For the love of the hobby for sure! Awesome build man. One of my favorite all time models. Sooner I later I will either buy a gen or build one. Probably cheaper to buy a gen but certainly not as much fun as building one. Keep those pics coming.

Rudy4010 Posted April 26, 2015 Author Report Posted April 26, 2015 This build is now complete with gen end links gen clasp to make the bracelet completely gen! So now this build is pretty much a gen on a aftermarket case! Because the ST case and Cape Co DW is the only parts that isn't gen! The build is now up for sale on RWI Time to move on to something new Sent from my Rolex thinking brain! 1
Rudy4010 Posted April 28, 2015 Author Report Posted April 28, 2015 Even after a couple of pair of high grade Swiss 2mm fat spring bars.. And even gen spring bars... They still don't hold up good as they used to! Especially when you mount them then take them apart a couple of time... It seams that the spring get weak and don't hold up... Even gen? Love to find a good stiff spring bar that's 2mm and hold up good? Anybody with a suggestion please? Sent from my Rolex thinking brain! 1
Rudy4010 Posted April 28, 2015 Author Report Posted April 28, 2015 These was took before I changed the end links! Sent from my Rolex thinking brain!
