fading dial?

Hey guys,

 

I am trying to get a sun faded (not tropical per se) look on a dial, something like this:

 

 

I am starting from a black HR 5513 dial.  I tried the oven method (on a different dial) but everything becomes darker. I am looking to get the opposite effect. 

 

Do you think bleach would work? Any other ideas?

I do not think that dial is faded. It just looks that way due to the ambient light & faded appearance of the bezel insert.

duh...ok, you're probably right. 

 

Out of curiosity though, has anyone tried bleaching a dial?

I wouldn't bleach the dial.... Not unless you want a sterile dial at the end of it..

Only way I've got a faded dial is through uv rays living in Florida this is easy
