chris5264
that was very cool, that kid probably doesn't even drive a car. One of the things I picked up on hanging with lots of musicians growing up is that one's talent maxes out pretty early. One of the guitarist I knew, was as good when he was 13 as he is now, and he is a professional that has played with lots of famous people. I practiced and practiced and never got any better, that's why I ended up in college

jfischman
There are a few (million) versions of this, but these two are my favorites: (I believe Jerry C's was the original) (This one has a different groove, but gets weird towards the end) When I can play this and EVH's "Beat It" solo, I will stop saying that I casually play the guitar and probably call myself a "guitarist". You're right...practice is key. I practiced intensely when I first started in 1985, but I was 15 and had nothing but time. I really slipped as I got older, but lately, I have been playing a lot more. Thanks for offering the Beat it tab...I have it, but I'm not ready to tackle it yet. You and I probably have many of the same influences! jonthebhoy
The kid is good but the question arises..........Why? This has been done to death IMHO. Do we really need another Steve Vai or Brian May or EVH? Don't think so. What we are sadly missing at the moment is originality. 2006 was one of the worst years for new talent and new music in my opinion. I heard very little that made may sit up and take notice. Let's hope 2007 offers more. JTB
