Well...I did because my wife asked me for...would have been better if never done...more than 40k€ a year :fool:...that's way too much...I really have to come down to earth...I really feel bad and sad atm...never thought it's that much plus...I always thought I'm even but actually I'm left with minus 10% :(

Sometimes it's better not to calculate...

:) ...there's always something, isn't it?

I tried to "work" on watches to be able to buy broken ones and get them fixed.

But all I can do is shortening/expanding a bracelet, changing straps and buckles. For everything else I have to visit a watchmaker...lucky me, Domi lives next town and is always open for a chat and an espresso :)

Yes I keep spreadsheets on all my watch activities....It is not a pretty sight.  I keep a separate watch account that my wife knows about but does not ask.  I do consulting work on the side--apart from me regular job and that is how I fund this hobby.  This keeps the peace effectively.  It is still far less than when I was restoring muscle cars/Corvettes.  The key is to build/acquire cars or watches you like and will keep, the real $$ damage happens on the quick flips.

When I first started in this hobby, my turnover rate was high.  I wasn't a serial flipper but I just could be satisfied.  I think now that I'm a more seasoned collector, I have finally identified what I like and am more selective on what I purchase.  I'll still have the occasional drunken impulsive purchase/c&r scenario but those are few and far between.
