r11co Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Madness I know as I already have ultimate PO on my gen 22mm rubber, but I can see me getting this one also - doubt I'll just be able to get caseback and second hand parts to swap as and when and regardless caseback will probably not fit ultimate case Well, if the CR SE caseback doesn't fit the ultimate then that is a serious step backwards as the ultimate caseback fits the gen, (don't ask how I know. Incidentally, the gen caseback don't fit the ultimate.......!!)
Guest RiverwindMDS Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Please make them do this watch with the goog AR coating it deserves
Richard Tracy Posted January 6, 2007 Author Report Posted January 6, 2007 I have known about this project for quite some time, but wanted to keep the surprise secret for the sake of the dealer... Personally however, not my cup of tea,.. I don't go in for third party logo releases... It is, however, as r11co stated great for anyone waiting for that 22mm rubber strap,.. which may outsell the watch itself....
r11co Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 TBH if the double sided AR coating isn't up to par I'd rather they didn't bother. It'll just look smeary! Owners of the gens don't even like it!! Rarely does a rep improve on the gen, but this is one instance where the 'ultimate' beats the real thing IMO. Less is more!

Rico's right, double AR is :yucky: Interesting about the ultimate caseback and gen case but not vice versa, hmmmm.....call me a cynic but I wonder how easy it will be to obtain caseback and second hand given the inherent financial disadvantage for Jay to do so As for rubber strap does this mean you'll not be needing my 'master' after all?
Dario33 Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Hopefully the Omega logo on the dial will have the flat 'feet' this time around.
Guest RiverwindMDS Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 Why don't you like a good AR coating if the gen has it?
tag Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 The standard PO doesn't have this logo+globe feature on the caseback, right??
r11co Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 The standard PO doesn't have this logo+globe feature on the caseback, right?? Correct. It's something that pops up occasionally on Special Editions and on the latest SMPs, and I don't know why they bother because it looks like it was carved with a nail. @Riverwind - AR coating takes on a nice, rainbow smear colour with the slightest touch of a fingerprint, and dust seems to stick to it. Not an issue when it is sealed into the inside of the watch case, but annoying on the outside face - so much so that owners of even gen watches with it are polishing it off (usually before it decides to wear off itself...)
uziuzi Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 So does anyone know when exactly this baby is coming ? Seems as if its very soon...

But when you touch it is there a way to clean the crystal or it will be like that forever? If there is a way to clean it I will prefer it to be AR coated like the original.

I've learned to live with it on my Breitling, but unless I carry a can of Isoclene and a lint free cloth with me all the time......
Guest RiverwindMDS Posted January 6, 2007 Report Posted January 6, 2007 (edited) Yep, you can clean it, but you'll never be finished cleaning it. I've learned to live with it on my Breitling, but unless I carry a can of Isoclene and a lint free cloth with me all the time...... i think I still prefer the AR coating. I have no problem cleaning the watches. And I prefer the closest as gen possible rep. Thanks for your reply Edited January 6, 2007 by RiverwindMDS
SportsterRider Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Anyway here's another pic of the symbol on the PO, not hi-res enough but a start... My gen SMP had this symbol on the caseback. It was a 2003 model.
Category 5 Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Yep, you can clean it, but you'll never be finished cleaning it. I've learned to live with it on my Breitling, but unless I carry a can of Isoclene and a lint free cloth with me all the time...... I don't know what the coating on your Breitling is like, but my PO (gen) takes a quick breath and a circular wipe from a T-Shirt to look clear as can be...almost invisible in fact. Honestly, the coating does show remnants of water spots that dried on the crystal, etc, but cleaning in the above manner is all it takes. Also, dust doesn't stick to it any more than any other watch. It might be more visible because the crystal looks almost invisible under it though. The double sided coating on the PO is unreal. It can really seem like there is no crystal at all.
tvt Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Generally speaking double AR coating sucks and that is why you seldom see it used... it is just a bad idea. Low end AR coating in unbearable... it makes the watch look dirty, smeared and smudged ALL THE TIME. High quality AR is better but still very prone to being dirty.... I can only imagine what REALLY low quality double AR would be like (likely what any fake would use). I would MUCH prefer single AR coating, it just makes more sense.

I had a watch in for service and the crystal was double AR coated. It's a real pain to keep the crystal clean.
flavor flav Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 i really love the double AR coating. it adds another dimension to the watch! i have no trouble with my PO. a breath and quick t-shirt wipe is all it takes. i keep my watches unusually clean anyway so really no big deal. why not make it double sided and those of us who want an accurate rep can have one and everyone else can get out the nail polish remover and take it off if so they wish.

I think in the same way. The double AR coating on the Hublot big bang is really good, let's use that AR coating like in the gen.
Richard Tracy Posted January 7, 2007 Author Report Posted January 7, 2007 Hey Guys,.. Jay is now requesting photos that have the serial numbers clearly photographed... Does anyone have them ?
ryaku Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Was a new 45mm PO version really necessary? The ultimate is good enough, instead i'd rather see a new 42mm version.
Richard Tracy Posted January 7, 2007 Author Report Posted January 7, 2007 Was a new 45mm PO version really necessary? The ultimate is good enough, instead i'd rather see a new 42mm version. It's the first Casino Royale version... I am impressed by how much detail Jay is looking to copy,... looks like he will turn out some amazing reps,... Back to his latest request however, can someone locate some serial number photographs... ?
rsv123 Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Was a new 45mm PO version really necessary? The ultimate is good enough, instead i'd rather see a new 42mm version. It's absolutely essential - if only to get the 22mm rubber strap!
uziuzi Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Hi Richard, I am trying to find the backshots, but it seems to be harder than for the Couteau IWC. But actually why do you guys need them anyway ?? You know there are 5007 pieces out there so you can make up numbers yourself like 0157/5007.... Sorry I really dont get it, but I continue to search... Cheers, uziuzi
