switch vs. asia reps

What is the difference between asian reps and switch reps?

You mean Swiss reps. About $100. :)

Asian reps have movements made in China, whereas Swiss reps have movements made in ... er, China.

Usually, Swiss reps use ETA movements destined for real Swiss watchmakers in the Swatch Group. They're of a higher quality than the no-name chinese generics.

But dont forget Chinese copy ETAs, or that some ETAs are made in Thailand..........Asia/Swiss gets a little blurred at times!!!!

Movements from Thailand have yet to fail me once, except for a crown glitch on a 111 a couple of months back. Highly recommended for the price. :)

I asked a dealer regarding its 'swiss ETA2892' as it was about $100 cheaper than anyone elses and was told that it was an 'asian ETA2892'. Thats different right? I guess it pays to check and double check with dealers before you buy.

All reps basically are made in China. Usually when they are referring to a swiss rep, they are referring to the movement used inside. Those generally have movements made by the swiss company ETA which are higher quality movements than what you will find in 'asian reps' or asian copy movements.
