Asian reps have movements made in China, whereas Swiss reps have movements made in ... er, China. Usually, Swiss reps use ETA movements destined for real Swiss watchmakers in the Swatch Group. But dont forget Chinese copy ETAs, or that some ETAs are made in Thailand..........Asia/Swiss gets a little blurred at times!!!! .

Movements from Thailand have yet to fail me once, except for a crown glitch on a 111 a couple of months back. Highly recommended for the price.

fkhill33 Posted March 31, 2006 Report Posted March 31, 2006 I asked a dealer regarding its 'swiss ETA2892' as it was about $100 cheaper than anyone elses and was told that it was an 'asian ETA2892'. Thats different right? I guess it pays to check and double check with dealers before you buy.

Those generally have movements made by the swiss company ETA which are higher quality movements than what you will find in 'asian reps' or asian copy movements.

Mate, you have no clue just how many brand watches' cases are made in China as well well, in fact you probably do have a pretty good idea
peekapoo Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 No asian movement has gone bad fro me yet, but I still prefer ETA only because ETA is much smoother than jumpy asian movement.
