Any modders have luck tinting white dials???

Hi guys,
Modded my fair share of dials but I'm looking to do something new. Has anyone tinted a white rollie gloss dial (smoke/tan/champagne/beige)? It looks a little too new and shiny for me. Maybe an amber colored laquer ?

I've been told cigarette smoke will tint it, or use the hot end of a lit cigarette held closely to the dial to heat tint it, moving around the perimeter and central hole to concentrate the effect there.

The silver dials also develop a nice patina.
