Hi

Ive recently bought this Omega Seamaster Dial:

But i dont really know what model it comes from.

Is it from a Bond 007 model, or regular Bond SMP

Is the case back for this dial a regular SMP case back:

or special 40 years of bond case back:

Or other?? any help is much appreciated

Please help as its for a project im doing

Thanks

Joe

That dial is an interesting one indeed. It’s a cross between the 2nd version limited edition Bond 007 (reference 2226.80.00) and the regular Co-Axial SMP (reference 2220.80.00).

2226.80.00:

I hope you didn't pay too much for it!

If I had to guess, I'd say it came from an early 40-years replica.

Just to point out this came form ebay seller 'watchco-australia' and is advertised as genuine.

here is what it was advertised as:

RARE Omega James Bond 300m Divers CURRENT Mens wristwatch Dial.

Circa: 2000s.

Winding: Automatic

Metal: n/a.

Dial: Black Grey Dial with Raised Steel / Luminous Markers.

Measurements:30.5 mm approx.

Case Reference: Unknown.

Case Sn.: n/a

Movement Sn.: n/a

Calibre: Calibre Unknown. Dial legs at 2.4 and 8.4 aprox.

Working condition: n/a.

Not recently serviced, timed or regulated:

Overall Condition of Case: n/a.

Overall Condition of Dial: Very Good but has been used . NICE.

Overall Condition of Movement: n/a.

Notes: 100% Original Omega.

Anyone have any ideas.

I paid $78 for it. But i think all is not lost.

If it was "100% Original Omega" then the seller should be able to provide a model/case ref no. for it. Alternatively, you should be able to find that info easily online. The fact that you haven't been able to do either would concern me.

But then, it might be a rare early/rejected/prototype dial for the 2226.80.00 - strange how it's almost a negative version with metal surrounded indices but plain embossed 'swirl' (as opposed to lume indices and metal-edged swirls) - almost as if it was a prototype which was rejected.....or a fake of course!

Curious..... :g:

I personally believe it to be fake, though I will admit to the possibility of it being a rare first run or “experimental” dial from Omega. However, if that were the case, one would think that it would have fetched more then $78. The only 2 current “bond” dials that I have ever seen are the ones that I posted earlier.

I think in this case your best bet is going to be to send the picture to the nice folks at Omega to have them confirm it’s authenticity.
