Ronin Posted Friday at 09:54 PM Report Posted Friday at 09:54 PM I am well read and have built many a "Sport Model", but have an itch to grab a President. I am open to all generations based on parts availability. The one component I probably want to SKIP the GEN is the Movement. So ETA/Clone Movement as the base. Help? Where should I start? Thanks!

freddy333 Posted Saturday at 04:23 AM Report Posted Saturday at 04:23 AM I would start the usual way - either select a case or dial/movement & go from there. I have never been interested in DDs, so if you are looking for specific part recommendations, someone else may be able to assist.
Ronin Posted Saturday at 06:27 PM Author Report Posted Saturday at 06:27 PM @oldtoolsthanks. That link also sparked the “Tudor” option. @freddy333 was your Miles Davis? Onyx just a DJ?
Ronin Posted Saturday at 07:45 PM Author Report Posted Saturday at 07:45 PM Random follow up. If I wanted to make a fantasy, lug hole, Stainless version-- Anyone know if 1601/160x case can be swapped for the 1803 case? Given the Pie Pan dial, 1530 base caliber, the question is Dial size. Thoughts?
gerc Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Great move. President builds are a rewarding shift from sport models. Look for cases built around the ETA 2836 or DG2836 to keep things simple and serviceable. Clean or GMF cases are a solid starting point with good fit and finish.
