Clint Eastwood
Hello all, i buy a DW kit from David and recently a vj72 movement that i have yet put on it, all was OK , hands , dial, but it seems impossible to screw the winding stem on the crown , winding stem seem to be too thick for the screw hole in the crown. someone have the same problem ? what can i do for this ? i was OK for a real rlex crown but all i see on ebay seem to have a too small hole on crown to put it in place. Thanks a lot for your help!!!!!
ubiquitous
Sounds like you have a Tap 6 stem. You need a Tap 10 for the Rolex crown.
Clint Eastwood
OK , thanks for your answer, i was sure that it will be you who can answer my question. Whats the difference between tap 10 and tap 6 ? is just the tap 10 who is more thin that the 6 ? if i found a tap 10 it will be OK with the movement ?no difference ? and of course if you can tell me where i can find this i will be so happy Thanks again a lot Ubi
alligoat
Tap 10 is the size of the threads on the stem which screws into the crown. Your stem w/ Tap 6 is larger as you've already found out. The standard size on Rolex and most reps (as far as I know) is Tap 10. There is a guy who sells V72 stems w/ a Tap 10 maybe up in Colorado, maybe his name is Michael Griffin, and I can't remember his company name. You might check w/ avitt, he's the other v72 expert along w/ ubi.
