HauteHippie Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 Wow, that is something else. Sometimes I wish I had lived 200 years ago...
robertk Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 That is a genuine piece of mechanical art! Good luck in restoring it The Zigmeister. I'm sure many here look forward to seeing the results.
Watchmeister Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 Very cool. It is amazing that at the same time someone could design an accurate and beautiful instrument like that and yet people were still using chamberpots.
longshot Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 WOW!!! so if i ever decide to build a teeny tiny bicycle... thanks for sharing rob!
flavor flav Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 wow! never heard of this movement type before. it's like the "wankel" of watches!
Markus Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 If anyone is an expert at Silversmith hallmarks, it appears that the silver case was made in the UK, I would like to know who made it and possibly a date? Found some info on the hallmarks... The crowned leopard's head indicates it was made in London between 1478-1822... The date letter looks like it's 1764. The top mark looks like a lion, indicating sterling silver... Couldn't find anything as regards the maker though, I'm assuming the 'IL' mark is the maker's mark? More info on these sites... baltic Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 Don't normally like pocket watches, but that is beautiful indeed. Looking forward to seeing the completed work. Good luck Rob (I have enough problems trying to re-link my bike's chain, but that one EEK!)
