eddhead
Ah hhhhaa!! A mental exercise my overly suspicious mind persued at the onset Play the usual: who could? who would? who would it affect? who wouldnt it? who wins? who loses? trains of thought............... logical outcome might surprise you . I am sure that thought has already crossed a lot of people's minds, I know it has mine. I would hate to think it was done that surreptiously.. i mean pug's post about targeting RWG rather than specific dealers makes sense.. you have to think that in the long term people know bringing that kind attention to this site cannot be good. Still it makes you wonder...
TWP
Several weeks ago paypal contacted me by the phone. They asked me several questions concerning the nature of my business. The person on the phone did not like my response, he could direct all questions to my attorney. They, rather he threatened to freeze my account (I have never had one complaint or dispute), seize assets in my accounts, and report me to government officials. My response, 'okay'. I am not sure if he was shocked due to my responses, lack of participation, or the fact that I told him I was going to put him on a three way call with my attorney (bullsH&T bluff ) . He thanked me for my time and actually apologized for his aggressive demeanor. By no means have a made paypal a fortune, but what they did make was fast money with little or no labor expense for them.
fotoman
Hate to say it, but I honestly believe that this is only the tip of the iceberg. Losing Paypal is a pain, but I think that our little hobby will soon be targeted by forces a lot more threatening than Paypal. We are indulging in counterfeit goods, and openly flaunting it. Our reps have become so good that it would take a WIS to identify the genuine article. I believe that in the past, watch manufacturers tolerated us as quality was way off the mark, and Canal street merchandise posed no threat to their clientele. I work at one of Canada's largest financial companies, and you wouldn't believe the "high earners" that have shown real interest in my watches (I don't hide the fact that they are reps). If Paypal has found our little haven, the you can bet your ass that Rolex, Omega, Breitling, et al have found us too. The end may come sooner than you think, so get em while you can people. Just my opinion. This is exactly what i keep telling my wife !!!!!!!!!!! the good news is that, as long as there is factories making them, we will findi a way - There are message boards about drugs and everything illegal you can think of - except kiddie porn. Want to get some illegal software - TONS of sites and those ARE the geniune article but, i agree, its very possible things will get more difficult. Category 5
It's much easier to imagine it's Rolex, Omega, Breitling or someone like that, no? Imagine a GAF lawyer sifting Google. Today, he finally gets to RWG, after sending C&D letters to the US-based numps, and finds dealers selling with Paypal. He gets in touch with Paypal who then trawl the PP referrer logs on their webservers, or they add a regex to the logs and catch PT and Reg using Buy Now buttons (a trivial task for a sysadmin worth half his salary, tbh) and investigate. They will possibly even have someone lurking on this board to make sure. Wouldn't they have to become a member to read the posts on the board? I thought all forums were locked out until you registered. That means, at the very least, whoever is responsible has an account here.

Hardly, they ARE NOT in the business of tiptoeing about, being a nuisance hither and thither, passing on free tips to aid PayPal. No They are lawers (for God's sake) in the business of taking ACTION against counterfeiters so that they can BILL their CLIENTS accordingly If GAF and pals were raining sh#t here we would be seeing a whole different ball game. Sorry, But PP being 'tipped the wink' by someone with an agenda who perceives themself(ves) as having little to lose and something to gain - is sadly a glove with a much snugger fit! . Chronus
For all we know it could be someone from Paneristi who finds everything "scary" ... Or someone ripped off on eBay paying full whack on a cheap $20 fake.

Yup.... you could keep on adding adding to that list till you arrived at aliens & O.B.Laden But, realisticly a revenge grievant wouldnt be so circuitous, I would have expected the GAF et al scenario not a little meddling with PayPal's foibles. If this 'scene' really upset you, would inflicting it with a payment option annoyance be your first thought? .
