How Long Does Lume Light Up?

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

A couple of my recent replica purchases have good lume on them (the Steelfish and my Navitimer Serie Speciale). When recently exposed to a light source the glow from the lume is very impressive, but obviously it starts to fade after some time. How long after the last exposure to light should we expect a good lume to be visible in a darkened room?

Out of 100+ watches I have only had two which glowed all night,...

An Omega Smp and a Jlc Compressor,...

I have never gone for the re-lume service however,.. and also

am curious to know how long it lasts ....

Genuine Super Luminova, with a full charge, will last 8 hours and be visible all night in a dark room.

Once applied, unlike Tritium, it's permanent and never needs replacing.

The quantity of the lume is directly proportional to the glow, a PAM with large markers is going to glow brighter than a Rollie sub with small ones...

C3 glows the brightest, C1 not as bright, but still visible all night.

Thanks very much for that. Is there a definition of a "full charge"? Would regular wearing of the watch in daylight or artificial light fully charge the lume?

Exposure to direct sunlight for 15-30 seconds, or a bright lamp for the same time, is as charged as it's going to get.

Charge it just before turning the lights out, and sit back and enjoy the show...going from a bright sunny day to an elevator with a Super Lumed watch, is always a treat...

Is Seiko's "Lumibrite" really just Superluminova? I have an Orange Monster and another Seiko Diver that will light up a room after lights out. They have by far the most luminosity of any watch I own.

I've actually had a total stranger comment on it in an elevator while wearing a davidsen pam!

If you want a watch to glow all night and then some you need to send it to Kent Parks at Everest Watch Works

Everest Watch Works

I have had 8-10 watches lumed by him and I am extreamly pleased with the work. Recently he has made this his full time job.

i would be remiss if no one stepped in and vouched for ziggy's lume work -- it is top notch. i couldn't be happier with the watches he has lumed -- i really do get a lot of extra enjoyment out of the pams i have sent in for luming.
