TimeZone Purchases safe?

I have seen for quite some time people reccomending Timezones Sales Corner for a place to buy gen's or parts. My question is how does one feel safe and secure on that transaction? At least here I know people and can see how long they have been on, etc. Just wondering as I am considering a purchase.

Research the seller as best you can. Ask the seller if he/she is willing to sell use an escrow service.

I have bought, sold and traded many watches on there and have never had any problems. As with anything do as much research as you can on the person you're dealing with. Ask them for references, also look at their post count and how long they have been a member there. There is no sure way to avoid scammers, but if ou do some research you should be safe.

one good way is to see if they have an ebay account with positive feedback, and send them a message through ebay to confirm that the ebay seller is in fact the same person as the person you're emailing with on TZ...

Figured I would need to do the research. It still seems odd to me that there is a global opinion that all is fine to send off a $2K check to a random person on the site. Perhaps I am a untrusting guy. Well, thanks for the advice. I will do my due diligents (sp?).
