  1. Been a while since I have been on, but looks like PAM's are still cruising along, the great struggle for the perfect Sub continues. Anything new and exciting happening in the last year? Seems kinda boring around here to be honest. What am I missing?
  2. Any help here on a person that can repair a broken moonwatch?
  3. OK, my handwind moonwatch broke. I was winding it and suddenly *SNAP* and now what I can assume is the mainspring broke. Who can I send this to be fixed.....
  4. What is a friendly US watchsmith I could use to fix my moon watch that was overwound?
  5. Any easy way to tell the difference between a Gen and Rep on this if it is the black version?
  6. I too have this problem and would love to get a high quality 40mm. Any progress on this since the last posts in June?
  7. I will need to look at my papers. Serial number is FJ3713. I would think the reps all have the same serial numbers right? (You are right, I am driving myself crazy.)
  8. Is there a serial number somewhere that I could look at and compare to the warranty card?
  9. Thanks for the reply. I guess I just was thinking the AR coating would be more noticeable like on the Breitlings. I am pretty excited about it.
  10. I wanted to get some help. I just bought a used Aquaracer Automatic Chrono - Black. It's the one with the rectangular chrono buttons not the round ones. I wanted to make sure it was real and I know the rep is really close. I have box, papers, receipt and it was from what I thought was a reputable person. From my reading the ways to tell are the AR coating and day/date wheel alignment. I sure don't notice any AR coating, but the day/date wheels look aligned to me. What could I do to verify? Here is a pic
  11. Looking at the gen's it seems the steelfish with the white dials are actually off-white? I was considering one of Ruby's and was going to pic a different color if the white is completely wrong.
  12. I had almost the exact same experience with my yachty. Luckily nobody saw, but very dissappointing. Reccomend everyone check theres as a small move could bend that bezel and thats the end of it.
  13. $2,750 Actually for a used gen in great condition. Used BCE on Timezone for $2750 This illustrates my point I guess. It's not for everyone, I just want people to know the reality of prices are. It was an eye opener for me. Not saying abandon reps, just saying know the facts of the economics. Do you know what this BCE I linked to will sell for in 3 years? About $2750! !
  14. But it's like putting money in the bank. You can sell a used gen for same amount you paid. Also, it is not going to break and become worthless. I say stick with good movements, buy reps for $100-$200 and have fun. It only takes a couple $300 reps to stop working to make you understand. And don't even get me started on people buying the $330 reps and sending them off for service, AR and a gen bracelet. Maybe I am just [censored] because my Chrono Avenger stopped working, but I think there is a point to be at least thought about when the reps are 25% the price of a nice used gen ($328/$1300). At least consider it.
  15. Yeah that is one I bought a few years ago and LOVE. But, if you really want the most comfortable watch in the world with beautiful lines - go for a white knight!
  16. Well, I am going to stick to reps in the $200 range now with decent movements. I really love my SMP, PO, Navitimer, and Sub. To me being able to sell the used gen for what I pay for it is attractive. I also like the reps as a preview of what gens to buy, but with used gens being so readily available, why waste the $350 on something that might break, can't be worn to AD's, and lose value quickly? I am not trying to be negative about the hobby, just think we need to make sure we don't get too caught up in buying reps that may be overpriced or of poor quality. I think if someone had put this in perspective for me, I may not have bought my Chrono Evo last month. Anyway, on a seperate note I just bought a new Hamilton Jazzmaster that I love - $650. Does this help make my point?
  17. With the rep prices rising, I find myself shopping on TimeZone and now am wondering what the state of the reps is going to be???? I look at these sweet gen Breitling Steelfish for $1300 and am wondering if it makes much sense to buy the expensive reps. Sure it's fun to buy a Sub and work on it with mods, buit are we just messing around for the sake of messing around. These gens can be sold for what you buy them for. Anyone else having these thoughts? http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tre...38879&rid=0 Maybe the answer is buy reps of extremely expensive watches only and focus on the $200 ones at that. I want to love my hobby, but am concerned it may be drifting...
  18. I can understand what he is saying and to some extent agree, but I think it is the responsibility of everyone to try and make a change to whatever they feel is not right about the board. Complaining is not the answer and will not change any of the peoples posting styles. You must try to facilitate change yourself. I try to and feel like for many people, I have helped them out get used to the board. So, give it some more time, post more often and make this a better place.
  19. I have had good luck with my steinhausen so far. It's the 8 watch winder with 2 drawers. It started out very quiet and now makes some noise, but nothing crazy. It is nice for the volume of watches it winds, plus my Breitlings are heavy! I really need another one...
  20. Congrats! I just got a B-1 (same parents) and love it. Go buy some rep leather bands for it and swap around. My blue leather band is really nice I got from Puretime. Way to go. May I ask how much it was?
  21. I know we had an issue with ourt Dealers section, but wasn't sure if and when a resolution was coming? Are we not supposed to talk about it or something? Did I miss the new thread? Just wondering??? (All this stuff is kinda bumming me out: Cartels, over or high price reps, Dealer section gone, poor feedback with dealers.)
  22. Absolutely love this watch and the back is even better!
  23. I agree - it's not a great idea. I take my reps off and put them in my pocket before entering. It is nice for me to be able to talk "watch" with people, so I like going in, but no more with reps. Just nothing good is gained really....
  24. I really like it in a simple kind of Yao looking way.
