Nanuq
Ziggy does it again! I asked him to please remove the green crud from the dial and to mount the genuine tropic crystal I finally found. If you had seen how nasty the dial was before, you'd be astounded by this. He scraped off as much crud as he could safely get, and did a fantastic job. Enjoy! RWG Technical
I am heading out for the evening, no time to add comments, except glad they made it home well. I'll fill in some details later on... RG
HauteHippie
That's a nice looking vintage piece you have now. I do hope The Zigmeister has before and after pics, not because I want to see what he's capable of, but because I'm always astounded by it. Wear it well! By-Tor
That's heck of a valuable Sub. I wouldn't trust a watch like this to anyone else but Ziggy, either. Congrats!!!
eunomians
Love is best the 2nd time around! Great to see that you've finally got that crystal. Best regards to you...
RWG Technical
Well nanug you got it exactly on the situation with the old lume... There was a fine line between removing the old crud, and destroying the dial, so I found what I thought was a compramise. As soon as I started to apply the new lume, it would pick up some of the old crud and that's why you see a bit of discoloration around the edges...but I think it turned out really nice. I used my 5508 with the gen tritium as a guide for colour. I think I have some pictures of it in detail, I'll have to look and see if I took some. Watchmeister
Fabulous restoration of a worthy watch. I would say "Ziggy is the Man" but I suspect everyone who Ziggy wants to know does know.
Jetsons
Nanuq, that is one very fine piece of history you have there and of course, a terrific job by "the" artist known as The Zigmeister! You've wanted the dial restored for as long as I can remember and terrific to see that you're more than happy with the results. Enjoy that beauty! Hopefully, you wont be performing some of your more rigorous tests on this one.
Seadweller4000
WOW, that is definately one of the holy grails! May I ask if that is one of the "out of stock" Silix cases?
