stevie7s Posted April 30, 2007 Report Share Posted April 30, 2007 I was having an issue w/ my Noobmariner movement so I purchased a new DG2813 21j from Jules Borel and brought it to a local watchmaker. He told me that it would be approx. 1 week and I would have the watch back. Well...it has been almost one month and he told me the following: 1) The date wheel is too narrow and would show in the calendar window 2) The old date wheel would not fit the new movement 3) The hands on the original movement did not fit the new movement 4) He had to purchase a "new movement" that would fit the hands and the watch has to be at an angle to see the date in the calendar window with this new movement. Im just fed up with him and I am going to get all the movements and the watch back this week at a cost of $60 USD. Im going to need someone that is in the US that can fix this for me so that I can wear it again. Can anyone help out? Pm or email me. All you need then are some hands (90/150/25); the datewheel overlay transfers over just fine, and the tube/stem lines up perfect. I did one for a friend of mine sometime ago... alligoat Posted May 15, 2007 Report Share Posted May 15, 2007 I just bought the Noobmariner from River with the 2836 eta asian copy movement for $99. You can find River over at RWI. That's going to be quicker and easier than putting an eta in your watch. I looked at the movement when I trimmed the crown guards and the only thing it's missing is the eta printing below the balance wheel. So far, the watch is keeping spot-on time. I also subscribe to Ziggy's theory about when you buy an eta, that the $70 ones are surplus. I built a Frankenjust, it ran for a couple of weeks and quit so then I had to get it serviced!
