rosnik Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 I find on Ebay this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&ru=http:// I would like to replace my Explorer II 2836-2 without INDENPENT ADJUST GMT HAND, whit this. Sure the Eta 2893 it's good alternative, but the Eta price it's really high.
kingkitesurf Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 It looks ok but very cheap. I am no expert but where can one get the 2893 still... I am looking for a source... if the price is right... Andrew and Josh sell them in a GMT rep.
2005SUBMARINER Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 does that asia gmt movement is the same size as the eta 2836 ?

RWG Technical Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 Your much better off with a 2836 basterdized movement, than with this one on ebay... First off the hands won't fit from your ETA to this one, so you would need new hands, getting the movement to fit in the case, securing it, stem alignment etc are all problems when you replace a movement with a totally different one. The quality of the movement is very poor, I have seen many of the same quality, and they are worth $2 or less, you get what you pay for, in this case, it's worth the same as a cup of coffee... Stick with the ETA 2836, and if you want it to be a good reliable movement, have it serviced... RG
FxrAndy Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 And it would still have the incorrect hand stack?
rosnik Posted June 13, 2007 Author Report Posted June 13, 2007 The hands are inclusive in the action N
slickdick Posted June 13, 2007 Report Posted June 13, 2007 You also need to know the frequency of the movement, if it aint 4hz (28k8 bph) you can only use it for plastic crystal versions, if you want it to look correct, sweepwise. looking at the balance wheel, it seems its 21k6bph
