My first watch was a SMP GMT, getting as close as I could to the Bond Seamaster while staying in my price range. Not long after getting the SMP, after not caring for it much at first I later realized my life wouldn't be complete without a Planet Ocean, so that's my most recent conquest. But I'm still thinking I'll eventually need the correct Bond Seamaster, but after looking closely at all the replica versions *I'm* aware of, I still haven't found any that actually replicate the correct Bond Seamaster. So my question is, are there any available, and if so, where should I look? Thanks! But can you post a photo of the exact gen Bond Seamaster you are looking for. Then we could use that as a visual guide to direct you to some possible collectors' sites, for the most accurate rep. I bought my dad a Bond SMP 007. We got one with light-coloured bezel, and one with a darker, closer to gen coloured bezel. Both Swiss ETA, and yet, so very different. @ALL: Incidentally, is it me, or are BOTH Joshua and Andrew's sites down? I'm guessing they're regrouping, or revamping. P.S.: I just saw that By-Tor's brother also has the Bond SMP. But his doesn't have your needed specs about the O in Omega, and Seamaster in red. I'm guessing that will be a toughie to find, but hey, let's see! FOLLOWUP below to Winston_Wolf: You coulda said you had read By-Tor's review!! Now he's going to think I'm sweet on him, by looking up his member profile (to see where his Omega review was). BTW, I love seeing which persons look me up. Seriously, though, I'm guessing that particular model isn't available if he doesn't list it. A shame, because it looks like a beauty. Buonna fortuna, anyway! In fact, it's much of the reason I have a UPO now because I couldn't let such a great rep that came SO highly recommended go unbought. I also have to be honest, I really hadn't noticed the differences in the Seamaster dials until about a week ago. But like many other "little" flaws, once you notice, it's all you look at. I went back and checked all of the vendors I'm currently familiar with and came up short, which is why I posted this. I thought there either had to be a source I'm not aware of or someone knows WHY this particular detail isn't currently being replicated. I have a less than accurate rep of one, which personally, I really like. However, that is because the flaws it has, are things I like... Your comment about the Omega logo and word Omega... On the gen watch, both are metal attachents, as on the Planet Ocean. Personally, I think the metal word Omega, with it's joined up letters, actually makes the watch 'look fake'... The rep I have, has the logo and word printed on the dial in ink. It's by no means perfect, and, although I prefer the look of ink to metal, I appreciate it's not what you're looking for... So far, this is the best there is: The logo is correct, the bezel numbers are accurate, the pearl looks ok (we've all seen worse), and there's a 3 o'clock marker. LastDiplomat Posted September 24, 2007 Report Share Posted September 24, 2007 (edited) Josh's watch is actually trying to be a rep of the 2221.80 model, which is the quartz version of the watch being discussed here. Aside from the incorrect crown guard and the awful pearl, the Omega symbol should be a metal attachment in order to be accurate. On the automatic model (the one Craig wears in 'Casino Royale'), both the "Omega" name and symbol are metal attachments and the word "Seamaster" in red is located in the top half of the dial. It's also labeled Co-Axial. Compare the photos above to Josh's pic and you'll spot the differences.
