ryyannon Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 The boys from Gdansk getting it on... Is that a bit of Tuvan throat-singing I hear as well? Don't try this at home: I like it.
omni Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 Rap is still a music oxymoron of America that's infected the other cultures of the world who want to be "cool" and "hip". You don't see irish jig dancing having the same effect. But who's complaining, it was beat poets of the 50's that led to ............................ It may die a slower death than that. Gee thanks Ryyannon. Culturally in the internet age I'm not surprised by much. Back to you, back to my martini.
ryyannon Posted September 23, 2007 Author Report Posted September 23, 2007 What's that line that only old-timers like us can (sometimes) remember, Omni? "It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing" It sure swings for me...
Victoria Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 Not quite as magically fused as your example, but may I introduce you guys to Brazil's Northeastern musical gift to the world: Forr
Pugwash Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 Is that a bit of Tuvan throat-singing I hear as well? It is indeed a Kargyraa, if I'm not mistaken. If you've never heard it before, I seriously recommend you play all three videos and wonder at the noises that people can make with their voices. Here's a Choomej (Khoomei): Here's a Sygyt:
Victoria Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 If you've never heard it before, I seriously recommend you play all three videos ...AT THE SAME TIME. So THAT is what dropping 'cid must be like!

Victoria Posted September 23, 2007 Report Posted September 23, 2007 Listening to that makes me want to do some serious drinking - and then to sing along! I think you've got something there, Miss Barrett! Now, what would happen if one threw the Forro into the mix.... Dude, call me crazy (not that you don't already) but it actually sounds GOOD...
