Ordering from Ofrei

How long does it normally take? I placed an order but never got any type of confirmation. Franky I'm afraid to call the man, he might yell "no soup for you!" and refund my money. I'm assuming some of the parts may be on backorder. He's received so many orders for UPO's that he's bound to be low on stock.

To be honest, the attitude that comes over on his site is not one I'm comfortable doing business with, so I never have. That said, others seem to be more than happy with him, so I guess it's just one of those things.

I usually get a confirmation email for my order and if something is backordered I usually get an email from them telling me so.

Haven't had an issue yet.

For the past year I have ordered at leeast once a month from Ofrei, and have always had an invoice emailed to me within 24 hours. Depends on the products you buy.

I have had a few 'odd' conversations with Bob Frei, but never a problem. I order frequently from them (usually by phone) and often receive an email invoice within a day or two unless items are back ordered or out of stock.

If you would prefer not to do business with Ofrei, try either cas-ker.com or cousinsuk.com.

Try Jules Borel and Co. They have it ALL for horology. I ordered winding stems and got it in 2 days. You just have to register on the website to see the item #'s I ordered by phone and got my items in a couple of days + a free color catalog.

I used to order everything from Ofrei. Never really had a problem. Bob is an interesting character and doesn't like stupid questions, or any questions for that matter. When I used to call in my orders, I always made sure I knew exactly what I wanted and tried to stay away from questions. Especially questions like "do you think...?" Or "will it fit?" etc. He expects his customers to be professional and know what they want and are doing. He was very helpful in finding a part for me and did some research to find it and did some cross reference and everything to ensure it would work for me, ordered it himself and then called me up to say it had arrived. I'm sure he spent a good deal of time sourcing that $6.00 part.

I switched to Julesborel.com only because of their website. It is great for researching and cross reference of parts, and easy to order. You can reference case parts as well. Great for finding part numbers for Rolex. They don't carry genuine parts, but most of the part numbers are listed so it helps in sourcing.

Thanks gang. Some of the parts are backordered, the dial and bezel, but they've shipped the rest so I should see some of the parts in a couple days.

I'm sure that he knows what is going on with those parts, as I'm sure he knows where a lot of the ETA movements he sells end up. hahaha

Otherwise he would not post this on the ETA movements page.

For reference, Bob Frei is not a watchmaker, which I suspect is why he does not like being asked questions that should be directed to a watchmaker. He is a parts seller and is usually more than willing to check his stock and/or locate the odd part for you (a number of RWG members (including myself) can attest to this). But he is used to dealing with experienced watchmakers who know what they are looking for. So it is a good idea to research and know what you need when making inquiries. Otherwise, you are likely to be back here posting flames about the poor treatment you received from Ofrei.
