piratedzeus Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Hey, which of these would you describe as most accurate Out-of-the-Box? know biggest flaws to me: SMP Chrono: Datefont, bracelet, red hands, seanaster SMP: Bracelet, HE Valve, Seanaster I would do the Datefont mod on the SMP Chrono though some day. What do you say. Gen hands + Eta 7750 is not a option ( eta 7750 too expensive)
By-Tor Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 The SMP chrono hands aren't 100%, but almost correct orange/red. The hand "tip" color is different on newer gens. And the datefont is only issue with the newer batch. Neither of my SMP's have the "Seanaster" anywhere. The clasp markings are excellent. SMP chrono Pics by Gioarmani: His GEN VS. REP COMPARISON Gen: Rep:
piratedzeus Posted October 4, 2007 Author Report Posted October 4, 2007 I was talking more about the dial GEN: REP: Thanks gio
By-Tor Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 Yep. And here's a gen SMP chrono, just older model. Hand "tip" color is more orange, just like on the rep. 95% of the preowned ones on Ebay have orange subdial hands... different than on Gio's genuine.
piratedzeus Posted October 4, 2007 Author Report Posted October 4, 2007 (edited) Now let me use my bad PS skills here GEN- REP Well looks OK to me now here...in 8x size lol Edited October 4, 2007 by piratedzeus
DuDro Posted October 4, 2007 Report Posted October 4, 2007 I've been pricing out the parts for a Swiss 7750 and Gen Hands franken project...Aside from Ofrei.com, is there another good source for the hands? BTW...the double AR on my crystal really makes the dial come alive! It's unfortunate that I effed-up my movement while tinkering.
thelawnmowerman Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 I have both, and their both very good , the chrono has an issue with the crown and crown tube ( difficult to engage the winding mechanism, and find the correct notch to set date), and if you go for the non chrono depending on who you get it from you could get a bracelet with pins, I did and this was only last month, also make sure theres a 3oclock lume marker, Oh and go for the ETA.
piratedzeus Posted October 5, 2007 Author Report Posted October 5, 2007 what what what what what..... BRacelet with Pins Details please
thelawnmowerman Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 I asked Reg (Narikaa) on his last visit to BKK to get me an SMP with 3oclock lume marker, good centralised bezel pearl , ETA, etc,and what he came back with I can only describe as stunning, and no screws in bracelet . dont know if it was lucky or what , I was expecting it to have screws.
Seadweller4000 Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 (edited) My vote would go for the smp chrono, really an awesome piece out of the box. Try to get one with a correctly aligned bezel. @ lawnmowerman: [EDIT] never mind Edited October 5, 2007 by Seadweller4000
thelawnmowerman Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 Yeah lifes a [censored] sometimes, I'll just have to make do with pins.LOL
gioarmani Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 Now let me use my bad PS skills here GEN- REP Well looks OK to me now here...in 8x size lol That's actually a blurry picture, not a blurry dial. Holding both in my hand I can't tell the difference between the two. Here's a better shot of the rep dial:
taiji Posted October 6, 2007 Report Posted October 6, 2007 Hi, I did a review for SMP Chrono @ RWI. Hope my findings help here is the link http://www.replica-watch.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32684
piratedzeus Posted October 6, 2007 Author Report Posted October 6, 2007 Read it already, you did a good job!
piratedzeus Posted October 6, 2007 Author Report Posted October 6, 2007 Another thing: I use to swim with all my reps. I do not want to use the chrono under water (I know this can't end good) but how easy is it to accidently push the pushers in? Can you swim with this thing or is it only waterproof if the pushers are not touched.
LastDiplomat Posted October 6, 2007 Report Posted October 6, 2007 I can still see the "Seanaster" error in the pictures posted. The SMP Chrono rep is missing a vertical line on the letter "m" in "Seamaster" which makes it look more like an "n." Definitely not something someone will spot with a cursory look, but something rep builders may want to fix in the future.
