Scratched Dial

Recommended Posts

[censored]....... I was able to remove the bezel from my Fiddy finally, but this made matters worse. Removing the bezel, scratched the matte finish of the dial. Now I'm f***ed.

Is there anyway to restore the matte finish? Thanks.

Man, I'm sorry, that sucks. I actually totally screwed up my dial trying to put the bezel back on. In the end the dial was fubar so I ordered another one from davidsen. However, my dial was really messed up, if the dial only has a few small marks on it, you can try some flat black paint. I've done that with another dial and it really worked well.

How bad is the scratch? Is it down to the base metal? Or just a surface scratch?

I have repaired several vintage matte black Rolex dials- An example:

Note the scratch at the date window-

After:

The secret- I use a matte spray on varnish. Works great!

Made an enquiry about a dial. Will let you know when I know. I asked for PAM127 (1950) dial for genuine Swiss ETA "Unitas" 6497 movement. :D
