Toadtorrent
I`m not totally familiar with the terminology yet. Could someone explain to me, sloooowly, what tube and insert are? I think I can figure out what the crown is. Here you go: Pic below is an 18k gold crown and stem next to the case tube. The tube gets screwed into the case to give the crown something to screw down on to create the seal. Triplock Crown is described below (text taken from Poor Mans Watch Forum) "The Rolex Triplock crown is probably the best crown system used in any watch and even maintains a degree of water resistance when unscrewed as tested by British Royal Navy Divers. Firstly an O-ring seals the space between the crown and the crown stalk, then the screw threads act as the second line of defense. The upper internal portion of the crown seals the top of the threaded cylinder when screwed down. Furthermore, around the stalk, inside the threaded cylinder is another gasket that acts as the final line of defense. There is probably not a crown system that can seal a watch case shut as effectively as Rolex

abat
Just recieved the bad one from Josh. Fundamentally it is not the one in the pictures that I ordered, we'll see what he says - I've emailed him.
Toadtorrent
Just recieved the bad one from Josh. Fundamentally it is not the one in the pictures that I ordered, we'll see what he says - I've emailed him. Yup...it seems he has a few of them kicking around. The replacement he sent me was also wrong...but he caught it the day after it went in the mail, and resent another one which he said he checked to make sure it was correct, right away. Shipping it back can be cheap and slow (with no tracking) or expensive and fast with tracking. If you go cheap and slow, it means it takes forever for you to get the right watch which stinks, given that you didn't make the mistake. Good luck...I'll update the thread when my watches arrive in a couple weeks.
Leeroy697
Great write up. I compared my Sub from Andrew that I recieved a year or so ago and it looks darn good. I had the crown guards worked and a gen crown and tube put in so that helps a lot. I just have to get a new insert and its pretty spot on. Im happy with it. legarots
This photo is from Rolex's website. It shows 5 tick marks under "Swiss Made". What's going on? Are they using a fake on their own site, or did they change the model?
Blerkselmans
The picture you're showing is the Submariner LV. A special edition with (apart from the green bezel) a few differences compared to the original Sub (which was reviewed here). Attached a detail of the original Sub, showing the 3 marks... fakemaster
I never saw this post. Not a shocker at all. The Rolex LV in it's first year run had 5 ticks. Versions after that had 3. So both are correct. Actually you would be more likely to see a 3 tick over a 5.
trailboss
People should be aware that all these repa have been thru changes since this was writen. The noob case for example has changed, for the worse unfortunatly. Still the best dial in the biz tho! Col.
fakemaster
How could the noobcase have changed if it was being made by the same factory?
