What Daniel Craig wears when he's Off-Duty

Actually, it was a photoshoot on a clifftop hence the harness (insurance requirements). Bond 22 hasn't started shooting yet ;)

Ah, but is this true?

Didn't someone recently post a still photograph suggesting that in Bond 22, the PO is not going to be the watch of choice? It was IIRC, a shot of Craig in character as 007.

Now, it could be that they were doing preliminary photography, and the cameras weren't officially rolling.

Where's Rico when we need him?!

Pic was from a shoot for GQ, which also includes a same-day shot piece on one of his chosen charities, the RNLI (excellent choice Mister Bond :tu:). In the accompanying interview he mentions he's tied up until December and then after the holiday he starts shooting on Bond 22.

I think the simple answer is that Craig is the 'official' Bond and due to the nature of the contract between Danjaq and Omega he is by extension a brand ambassador for them meaning that he has to be seen to be wearing the Bond watch during all publicity shots and public engagements. I seem to recall that during Brosnan's tenure the SMP was welded to his wrist for most of it, on and off screen.

Apart from when he was posing for Breil adverts.

You can be pretty sure Daniel Craig doesn't pay for his Omegas, though. I don't blame him.

OH! Hang on, this reminds me. The other day I was in a seedy part of Miami, waiting for my mum to come out of this shop, when I notice this Rico Suave Hispanic guy kept giving me the eye. And in fact, licking his lips at me.

All he needed was a crotch-grab.

I was reminded of John Leguizamo's standup routine in drag, where he shouted, "Take a pic-tcha! It'll last you longa!".

So I did. :lol::tu:

You make me hot, papi!! Especially the lycra Kelly green shorts.

Ahh, gotcha. I searched all over for that thread, and couldn't find it, so thanks for remembering.

Funny you mention that Pug, he does say due to the box-office takings he was "sorted out" :greedy:

Omega would be bloody stupid not to have given him a couple of POs. It's a decent unpretentious watch and his wearing it off-the-clock will do them no harm at all. :D

A friend asked me one day how much the watch costs that Bond wears. I said back in the old days, the Sub was the choice and that was about $6K (in today's dollars), then more recently the SMP which could be had for a couple thousand, and finally the PO at about $4-5K.

The response? "That's it?? I thought Bond was supposed to wear an expensive watch if he's going into those high class casinos"

My reply: "...you have to remember...he's technically a Civil Servant".

:p

Hmmm. And there was me thinking his

watch was a black dial PO 45mm with SS bracelet.

WRT to which watch(es) in Bond 22, no info as yet. Some preliminary filming took place away back in August, but it was crowd scenes for an historic sporting event. DC was there and was wearing...... a black dial PO 45mm with SS bracelet.

I think that pretty much nails it in regards to the Bond 22 watch. I really can't see them going for anything else unless there is some else new on the horizon that has somehow slipped under our radar. For all of us who own Black 45mm PO on SS, it puts us ahead of the curve. I predict that come the release of Bond 22 the 45mm PO on SS will be seen as the Bond watch, as linked to Craig as the SMP was to Brosnan.

Around the same time $400 became a cheap rep.

You got it Lady V!!

Also, considering the MSRP on the gen versions of some of the more popular reps, $5K is a cheap watch:

Breitling fg and tt Bentleys

Rolex TT Submariner

IWC Big Pilot

HBB (I think the taxes on this watch alone in many countries are more than the full cost of a PO)

AND...considering the Bond lifestyle:

Aston Martin DBS

First Class Trans Atlantic flights

Stays in villas at Le Casino Royale in Montenegro

...it's all relative.

Surely if they have already filmed scenes with the 45mm PO on SS, continuity would suggest that for at least some of the film, that will be the Bond watch unless they do what they did in the previous movie and change the watch halfway through. Either way, this is the first time we have seen Craig wear the PO on SS as Bond and that is good enough for me.

My sources tell me DC was present as a guest of the local dignitaries (probably to schmooze them while the camera crew did their bit), but wasn't in front of the cameras himself....
