Tribal
You are doing an absolutely great work my friend... I love that 1680!!! Only thing that could be improved is the pearl - go get a genuine plastic pearl and you are off the socks... I would be very happy to add one of your magnificent pieces to my collection once you have something up for sale... LMK... Thanks Olli, i`m searching for a gen Insert since a long time... When i catch one,i post an upgrade... Thanks for your kind words... P.S. i post next time my Mbw 16610 with some upgrades.. I'm waiting for my tube tapping tool, than the work goes by... By-Tor
Yep, it's almost indistinguishable from the genuine. Proves how good bases the vintage MBWs are. I echo Repaustria's comment about the pearl. Get a genuine insert or do as I did, lose the pearl.

Tribal
Ohhh - I just got a great idea friends... I will try to produce homemade acrylic pearls... and I already know how... Please, Tribal, if you have them on hand or any other people (Randy i look at you) - please post some good resolution shots of the gen pearl without insert! Thanks... In return I'll let you know on my custom pearls if they work - and i think they will - most likely... Ok, sounds good.... But i think its not an easy job.... silvio
Nice comparison Tribal. Thanks for sharing. But I'm quite surprised to see that the lughole for the springbar on the gen isn't quite beveled (3rd pic from top). The lughole on your MBW actually looks more convincing. Is that a common problem in a gen? Edited June 3, 2006 by silvio

Is that a common problem in a gen? it looks like that when a wtch was polished several times during the years. every polsihing takes off some of the metal and the lugs get thinner and the bevel gets smaller
silvio
it looks like that when a wtch was polished several times during the years. every polsihing takes off some of the metal and the lugs get thinner and the bevel gets smaller That makes sense. I suspect the lughole was scratched by some objects and repolished. Thanks for the explanation Tommy.
