Chronus Posted June 4, 2006 Author Report Posted June 4, 2006 Yeah I've got two Seiko divers one of which is tha Orange monster and you can read by the luminosity. Is the crystal mineral? Seiko calls it Hardex. I think it's mineral crystal with some anti-scratch coating or something, and they call it Hardex/Hardlex (can't remember the exact name). As the bezel is level or slightly above the crystal, that gives some measure of protection to the crystal to stop it getting scratched.
chilidog Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 yes mineral but i wear mine hard, to work at a blue collar gig and its been fine, you can get a sapphire if you need one but you could also sell your scratched one for $80 and buy a newer used unscratched one for $120....the OM/BM is a great watch, if you "watch" the trade board at the seiko/citizen board they move a lot and fast.... seen a "head only" sell for under $100 many times...
Gerco Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 Yep, why not buying a nice big nautica or casio and leave your reps at home ????
simon Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 (edited) I always swim with my Rolex Submariner from Paul. Never had any problems. I have it for more than one year now. Edited June 5, 2006 by simon
2005SUBMARINER Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 my subs & seadwellers do just fine after a regrease all the o-rings & properly tightend the case backs , 1 or 2 of my reps arrived with very loose case backs ! .. also i like to seal shut the HEV on my OMEGA SMP ! i think they are pone to leaks the most ! good luck man & enjoy your summer !
infinitime Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 I've had good luck with my Explorer I vintage model (with the painted indices, not the batons) Have gone swimming with it, and it seems to hold up well... no leaks or foggy crystals yet!
Sir-Lancelot Posted June 5, 2006 Report Posted June 5, 2006 every Sub rep i have ever bought has been in the pool and in the ocean. swimming only - never diving. i have three right now. tighten the caseback and have not EVER had a problem. I would feel foolish taking a "dive watch" off to go swimming. that would fool no one.
Chronus Posted June 6, 2006 Author Report Posted June 6, 2006 True. What do you use to tighten the back? I don't have the proper tools that would unscrew the caseback.
r11co Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 Despite being delivered with moisture already in the case ( ) my 45mm Asia movement rubber strap PO has survived swimming, buckets of hot soapy water and a few direct hits with a pressure washer once I'd dried it out, reseated the caseback o-ring and tightened things up properly.
