mucrewbtp
For some time I have been wanting to get a good rep of a GMT Master. I have read the reviews of josh's retro vs. noob GMT. I also have been looking at the GMT masters on silix's site. They seem to be pretty good, I especially like the movements in them, they seem to be finished a little nicer than the standard gold colored ETA. I would like to know if anybody has one of these, and would like to know what they think about it. Or if you are familiar with GMT Masters I would appreciate it if you could take a look and give me your opinion, it looks good to me but I am not very good at picking out details from a picture. The model I am interested in is: http://www.silix-prime.com/product.asp?id=1500 or: http://www.silix-prime.com/product.asp?id=1402 any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You, Mike

indyberetta
These are both vry good models. The movement is actually a replica of the Tudor Prince movements and they are darn good! Enjoy either one that you decide to purchase as they are both good buys!
space
Silix has "lots" of variants of the GMT II. What's the difference between the ROLS027 and ROLS027-H, or the thre different pepsi-dials? These are not the "Noob" and not the "Retro", from By-Tors compare, but something in the middle? mucrewbtp
I decided to order the red and black version with the nickel movement and chose a panerai for my 19.99 holiday deal watch. This should be interesting.
By-Tor
Both are based on the old CN version of the GMT. That means a bit wrong case dimensions, wrong rehaut shape & thickness, and cyclops / date positioned too right. Nice dial & crown though. It used to be the best version 3 years ago. It's very old replica model, it's reviewed in my section. You can see it here. It's not a bad rep, but not the best. I wouldn't buy it anymore. But then again the price ain't bad. skitoolong
I wouldn't buy it anymore. But then again the price ain't bad. What would you buy??? I'm looking for a coke and am interested in your opinion of where I could find the nicest. Thanks!
mucrewbtp
hmm... Now we have conflicting opinions, i thought the decision would be easy. I havent gotten a reply from silix yet so ill have to do some more thinking on it before I send money. If anybody else has opinions please let me know. I read by-tor's review it seemed like a pretty good review at the time, but i suppose there may be more accurate models out there now.

The only thing missing from that one is the front rehaut thickness. But compared to this Silix version it's much better (imho). With some mods the Noob factory version is the best one out there, hands down. But like I said, it requires modifications... and it's extremely difficult rep model to find. I think TTK can source it though. If you want the best one, there's no comparison, really. The dial is superb. Left: rep, right: gen. Besides the dial this version has correct case dimensions, superb rehaut & thickness and very good SELs. Here's my modded one (new sharp edged bezel, new insert, cg's modded): Search for Stephane's review of his correct hand stack version with genuine dial. Can't get better than that, really. yaron
Hi By-Tor, If I understood you well (also based on your superb review), If you had to choose the best "out of the box" GMT Master II would it be the "Retro" model sold by Josh and Andrew? Regards, yaron

mucrewbtp
Thank you by-tor i have read all of your reviews and they are always very helpful. I guess you have talked me out of it. I was really interested in the movement he offered in the gmt and the holiday deal seems like a good chance ti pick up an extra watch, but I guess one good watch is better than two ok watches.
