Do you often replace springbars?

Hi everyone - slow day today, I was sitiing here thinking that as watches get bigger and heavier, the springbars that come with our reps and hold the bracelets in place are subjected to a fair amount of strain.

I'm positive that these spring bars are not very good quality and can fail - one day you are walking down the street and your gorgeous ultimate Evo falls off your wrist and after picking it up you see that it's scratched up and dented. Hasn't happened to me yet but it makes me shudder.

Do any of you routinely install new, high quality spring bars after you receive your rep?

If yes, where do you get your spring bars from?

Also, do you ever have any problems when trying to install new springbars?

In avance, thanks for your replies.

I can't speak for any other marque than Panerai, but as most members know, one collector -- River -- stocks 24mm/26mm springbars for PAMs.

I recently have taken to using them on my DSN 112, and though it just feels "different" (not gen), they are far more convenient. I have a few screwdriver scratches on my 112, that I could well have avoided with their earlier use. Cape Cod hasn't removed them.

All in all, a good question. I look forward to reading the replies.

I change them once every couple of years on watches I wear daily. I do inspect them all the time though to make sure they are not damaged or bent. I would HATE to lose a watch on the street. All my Rollies have gen springbars now so they are fine for a long time.
