Basically, what do the following mean:

AR?

OEM?

montlanc timewalker does the chrono feature work and is reliable unlike the many horror stories of the Daytona chrono feature?

Thanks and will be ordering a Chrono timewalker for a wedding where i am best man in March. Any suggestions on who to buy from ... Josh, ruby, Andrew, King or paul?

Much thanks!!

AR: Anti-Reflective.. Used for the anti-reflective coating on crystals. ..the blue tint you might see when the light hits the crystal at an angle.

OEM: Original Equipment Manufacturer ..basically means it's made by the guys who makes the genuine article, not necessarily the same guys who sell them under a brand name.

..about the Timewalker, I can't really tell you since I never tried one, but I assume you mean the 7750 version, and they are normally 'somewhat' reliable. There are always the horror stories, but if you take your precautions with them, as well as have it serviced, it's about as reliable as any cheap rep chrono movement.

AR: AR Coating. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-reflective_coating

OEM: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Original_equipment_manufacturer

As for the Chrono issues, only watches with seconds at 6 (Daytona, IWC Portuguese Chrono) suffer from that problem.

so chronos with secs at 6 are bad. are secs at 9 or 3 readily searchable and found in the mont blanc line, rolex or omega lines

Ape, I just editted the Wiki definitions article. I used your definitions in part below. See if you wish to edit, to refine it. :)

OEM -- "Original Equipment Manufacturer": genuine article, not aftermarket or secondary brands

Prince, the definition for AR was there BUT I realise now it's all jumbled together. A more visually pleasing edit is called for. ^_^

AR -- anti-reflective coating on watch crystals, casts a blueish tint

No, it looks better cut down like you edited it. I tried the 'noob'-approach ;)

Only thing that could be confusing is that OEM doesn't necessarily mean it's brand name. Might be nit-picking though..

From Wikipedia:

"Original equipment manufacturer, or OEM, is a term that refers to containment-based re-branding, namely where one company uses a component of another company within its product, or sells the product of another company under its own brand. OEM refers to the company that originally manufactured the product."
