Guest soulfood2go
Hi, I'm a newbie (Germany) and even after browsing though RWG I'm still not sure where I'll find the best GMT II Replica. I checked several sites (Perfectclones, Trusty Time, Silix-Prime), Perfectclones looks good to me but Silixprime seem to cheapier (and they promise a replacement for every watch that gets seized by customs). Where's the difference between http://www.silix-prime.com/product.asp?id=1401 an this one here http://www.pc-80108.com/rlgs10002-master-b...362-p-2017.html ?? Is it the movement Swiss Eta 2836-2 or anything else? Thanks for your help! Frank Edited January 1, 2008 by soulfood2go
mrandazzo
Have you ever considered reading the By-Tor's guide???? http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=52158 Edited January 1, 2008 by mrandazzo
Guest soulfood2go
Thanks, I've seen that - but that doesn't answer my question... I'd like to know if the GMT's from Trusty, Perfectclones do actually come from the same manufacturer? Or is there a significant difference between Perfetclones and Silixprimes version? I'n there anybody who has replicas from both sites? Thanks again
alligoat
There's a few differences, Silix has the silver eta movt, Josh the gold- both have the GMT hand on the bottom of the stack- which is the most reliable, movt wise, but not like the gen where the GMT hand is above the hour hand. Date window appears right on both models. Silix's clasp is the long Submariner type, whereas Josh has the correct short GMT/Explorer clasp. I would think the two come from different factories but don't know for sure.
striker27
Check the thread where everyone posted up pics of their GMT's and Explorers. I posted up one of my GMT 2 it is a Gen and I couldnt tell the difference between it and reps. I think it is all just a crap shoot the reps all look pretty close. I bet almost all guys who wear a Gen would not be able to tell the diffeence.

If you read my guide, you already know that the "Noob factory" version is the superior 16710 base. But it's very difficult to find, and it requires mods. TTK sells that one (the wrong hand stack version)... it's coming from his MBK source. Joshua's "Retro" GMT is the only one from our "volume dealers" that you should even consider. However, it has the flaws I mentioned in my review. Do yourself a favor and forget all other "options". Don't buy bad reps.
